Idk if it's the same boy, but they have a boy flying in baskets.
(This is OO5 right lol?)

@ScottyB, why discuss Your ideas about boy flyers on a cheerleading squads.. Nooooo, What you demonstrated is a critic with little thought on a topic and I thank you for my dislike rating, matter of fact, give me 3,000 more dislike, because at least I have a thought to judge, unlike you!
I have entered my thoughts and opinions onto this thread already, why repeat them? I used the post rating system built into the site because I disliked your post. Take the rating and continue on, I do not need to justify myself.

Yes it is and yes I think they do. I was just talking about their stunts I didn't think I saw one! He is pretty good!

If they can make it look as effortless as this, why not put them in the air?

That stunt didn't look effortless though.. The base had to give that stunt a little extra to lock it out after he had a bad grip because of the flyer's feet being larger.

I am all for gender equality in and out of cheerleading but for some reason to me I'm traditional in the fact that guys shouldn't fly. Just as football coaches are traditional in that they like to use lots of run plays or that sports announcers love traditional plays over trendy new ones.

I thought they were implying the flyer made it look effortless.

I like boys in the air and you like them on the ground we can agree that it is a preference.

However what concerns me is if the scoring reflected the judges preference that much.

Preference indeed.
I guess with regards to the judge as long as they didn't take away too many points or not give enough points then to me it is ok due to competitive cheer scoring being objective. If they felt it was distracting then it was to them and that is feedback for the routines overall choreo

Yeah, it's the same guy.

Top Gun i5/OO5 has always had at least one male basketeer every season since 2009 except for the 2012-2013 season.
Yep, I love it! I don't mind baskets or pyramids, I'm not a huge fan of boys flying elites even though one of my good friends used to, but I don't think it should affect your score.

How can we tell flyers who have grown out of the "flying size" that they need to focus on being in the position that makes the team stronger as a whole, but when a boy is in the best position for the team, that just so happens to be flying, he shouldn't because its not aesthetically pleasing?

However, I don't appreciate the teams that have the boys flying as a gimmick, and not because he is an actually strong flyer.

What bothers me about this individual judge's preference is that he/she applied it to "many individuals on the national level." This judge should have said, "Your boy flying was distracting for A, B, and C reasons. You might want to consider not using him in that position in the future."

I think if the distracting factor for the judge was simply the flyer's gender, then it is probably time for this person to retire from judging. The judge should be able to give a better reason as to WHY having a male flyer was distracting. Not just, "His boyness is distracting and everyone on the national level agrees with me so you need to change that."
