It was hard to let it go, but I couldn't get level 6 athletes to practice enough to compete with GT. I could get the talent, but they have to travel a long ways, are an assortment of different college students and people who have graduated, and would only be able to practice once a week. I think I did a comparison and GT the week before Worlds puts in more hours to practice than we had all season. All our people have jobs and college cheer won't let them practice that much. Not to mention getting UCA cheerleaders who understand the flow and work of all-star is difficult (even though they can stunt and basket their butts off!).

Now level 5 athletes its QUITE a bit different. The attitudes, expectations, and practice schedule are a lot different. So we have had twice a week practices this year and it is amazing how much less stressed we are about just knowing the routine. By the time NCA and Cheersport roll around we will actually be prepared to go and have a routine that is comparable to our normal all-star teams (but way stunt heavier).

I would only do level 6 again if they agreed to practice twice a week.
I think GT is at an advantage in level 6 because their association with Louisville. International Level 6 is practicly the Louisville Cardinal cheerleaders. Do they force the allstar cheerleading on the college students or just push towards it?

Smart move by the USASF to make tumbling count for NOTHING on the International Score sheet - now when University of Bangkok walks in and SPANKs everyone - the judges will say - check the scoresheet...Those asian teams CLEARLY out group stunt and pyramid US teams!

Their group stunts will put them in a much lower stunt category.

For single based - yeah...but when they rewind to the top and then do all of those random fun transitions - they are gonna be right up there with Louisville...I mean Gymtime & Top Gun!

Their pyramids might but their stunting is not up to par with the US teams.

If Bangkok goes to worlds this year (they skipped a year after they went in 09) and win will it be because they are the best overall team or will it be because they can do amazing pyramids?

The scoresheet is better written this year to handle that.

It'll be because stunting counts for 75% of the scoresheet. Granted - I have no clue what they are doing this year...but, you know that they have the most creative and innovative stunts and seeing the Japan teams - with AMAZING technique on high to high tick tocks - perfect kick double baskets - impeccable timing on jumps and just a solid routine - I can only imagine what Bangkok is doing this year!

i believe, and things may have changed since my coach was there; so i could be totally wrong, but your first year you have to do GymTyme. after that it's not required but they would really rather you do. ha.

and as for the international scoresheets. i'm like beyond excited by them. worlds this year is gonna be SICKKK! i already texted my coach telling her we need to talk about everythinggg. haha. i can't even deal. maybe now more of my crazy idea will be used. lol

Thats what I thought. Thanks for answering!

I would love to see a team come out and beat Gymtyme. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE them. I just would love to see more competition in that division.

teams beat them all the time black didn't win worlds, and pink was beat... once? last year.. haha. i mean yeah.i get you though.

They have a fairly strong advantage in the international divisions but nowadays they are on par with anyone else in the club divisions.

doing gymtyme is not forced on anyone while you are there. but be honest if you are there you are a cheer nerd and jump at the opportunity to win worlds. well thats how it was when i was there.

on another note, were a small gym now, and would love everyones support this year at worlds, assuming we get bids of course. Please check us out on youtube, stealth all stars level 6.

Hypothetically if more true international teams start entering the senior club divisions will the USASF also decide to make tumbling worth less like they did in the international divisions?

Wouldn't it make more sense to come out with these score sheets BEFORE everyone has already started competing?!

We don't have a level 5, so I can't say for sure but I am thinking these Worlds scoresheets are already out a lot earlier than last year's were. Undoubtedly, there has to be time after worlds to gather feedback, discuss changes, and then implement changes and new ideas with the scoresheet. Not to mention that the process is lengthy, I am sure. I think 5 months is enough time for these teams to work on it... ;)
