Exactly what I have said in my last two posts. And in neither of them have I passed judgement - or said that Gabi was a gym hopper. It's obvious that she made the move judging by what was right for her and her family, and that is none of anyone's business. I was expressing my opinion on the situation, not the person involved, and said how I feel about gym hopping in general. Gabi is a fantastic athlete and needs to do what she needs to do. Maybe check what was actually said before you accuse people of passing judgements
i was not specifically accusing you at all, i was just quoting your post because i wanted to continue off of what you had said, sorry for the confusion, did not mean to step on your toes :) i'll specify that next time i post, thank you for not jumping down my throat! :D

I hate commenting on this type of thing and I really don't care for "cheerlebrity" drama, but here's the thing. I'm sure having the opportunity to be on Cali smoed is amazing. But there's tons of other world champion gyms/teams on the east coast, I don't understand going all the way to California. That's just me

i think she is home-schooled! :)
but i agree with you 100%. if i asked my mom if i could move to Texas because Cheer Athletics offered me a spot on the team i think she may smack me for even considering that we would move the whole family to the other side of the country(kinda) for me to cheer. best wishes to Gabi! I love smoed!! can't wait to see how she fits in!!
Le sigh....cheer athletics.

I wouldn't smack my kid...we'd both sigh, eat a cookie and imagine the possibilities.

...and then come to our senses and pout that we couldn't pick up and move to Texas no matter how tempting it would be. But it would be a lovely little moment to imagine the possibilities :)

One of my kiddos is moving to Dallas at the end of the season and I said to her mom yesterday "I've literally never been so jealous of a kid in my life. You are moving to the most amazing gym in the world and you don't even know it." Her response was "what's the name of the gym? I'll write it down" Hahahahaha. But seriously, I'm probably going to force a visit once they leave.

"Yes, write this down dear, S-H-A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. They just go by 'CA'' for short."

In my opinion, it's not gym hopping that can to my mind, but rather the season has already gotten underway and a change is happening. I don't know the circumstances...maybe she had to leave the Atlanta area for reasons beyond cheer...it's just now a team has lost one of their members and must recover. I'm certain, she was choreographed in the routine as to showcase her skills. Now, Trinity has to find a replacement and let's face it, that can't be an easy task. I've seen countless posts over the years on proX and now fierceboard, where people have asked for opinions on switching gyms mid year. Time and time again, the consensus is wait until the season is over. Don't quit a team after a routine has been choreographed, etc. It seems like a double standard to me, because of who she is. I wish this young lady success, I truly do. This is purely my observation of the situation as it has been presented.

I agree with what you said. I think people are walking a little on eggshells on here regarding this because of who she is.
I'm also curious to know - I believe it was asked in an earlier post but don't recall seeing a response - if Smoed was full (and I can't imagine it not being full) and if so what unlucky cheerleader who has been part if the team since tryouts is now an alternate if even that.

I think someone said there was a flyer spot open, but they had a girl from a level 4 team filling in? Or something to that effect.

That's what I heard, too, but I dont know for a fact.

Ok, so I did confirm this much - no, the team wasn't full. Yes, there was a fill-in flyer. She's perfectly ok with the transition and is helping Gabi learn choreo.

Can someone explain to me how this isn't a gym hopping situation? More power to her, I'm not saying I wouldn't do the same thing, but let's call a spade a spade. It's like gym hopping on steroids.
Also, how does this work with the whole gym release stuff that's been going on? Is that not in effect?
