All-Star California Allstars Expanding?

this argument will go on forever about any big gym moving to any area of the country.

when you're the smaller gym that's in the area where the big gym is coming, it's sad to think that you'll probably lose some athletes. people will say that they're "glad the big gym is coming because it's going to bring more competition!"...yes, there are some people that really feel this way. but a lot of people will feel sad, mad, nervous, betrayed, etc. when you have no affiliation with either gym, you say "cheer is a business!", "keep your athletes satisfied and they won't move", etc. which is also true...but it's easy for you to say when you're not involved. i have been in both of these situations so i know this is how i felt (which of course is not true for everybody).

the bottom line is: yes, athletes will leave their gyms and go to cali. yes, the smaller gyms have athletes that are satisfied with where they're at and feel a sense of loyalty to that gym and will not leave. yes, the smaller gyms have athletes that want a ring, and will move to a gym where they feel like they can get one. yes, cheer is a business and a successful expansion is one of any business' ultimate goal.

Cameron started at South Bay Elite when he was young, along with Caitlyn Krulee. They were both about 8 or so, throwing fulls... Our juniors were the deal. South Bay later became Nor Cal Elite, which is still around. Mike DeVos, who coaches at CA Livermore, also cheered at South Bay.

I remember South Bay Elite, it was a great program

The majority of the Livermore gym is athletes from other gyms. I think Cali does amazing at competitions so that is why they get talent.. Bottom line... It's like professional athletes have done since they started free enterprise.. They want rings..so that doesn't equal loyalty to a name or brand. Do I agree with this thinking.. No.. But it's the way of our current society.

Isn't Cali Livermore only like 2 or 3 years old? I don't understand the expectation that all those athletes should be "home grown". How would that even be possible at this stage? Every team out there (the Calis and the Craptastic Allstars) is going to have a mix of athletes who are just starting out as well as those who have come from somewhere else.

My own CP came from gymnastics to a smaller gym. So technically she wasn't "home grown" by her gym either. Does that mean the growth she experiences at the gym she chose is any less attributable to that gym because she learned some other things somewhere else? Was she not "loyal" to her gymnastics gym because she switched to cheer? Last I checked, I pay for the activities my children do. So like any other business decision I must make, I have to weigh the pros and cons of various offerings and products. I do not owe any "loyalty" to any business that I am paying.

cali Livermore is 3 years i believe, before that nor cal for 3? and before that it was cheer xplosion, a lot of the girls i know currently on livermore started at cheer xplosion and stayed with the location throughout all of its changes which is how some of the athletes at livermore are 'technically' home grown.

Cali seems to have the formula that works. They are able to run a great gym and a successful business at the same time. I dont know why there is so much back lash coming from everyone. If i have to pay the large some of money it takes to have a child in this sport i want the best i can give them. These other smaller gyms need to start working on getting the formula perfected for their gym instead of blaming their troubles on Cali.
As far as the comment regarding free tuition...all gyms do that and probably have a large # of athletes not paying on their worlds teams. And dont think those costs are not somehow passed down to you when you pay your tuition fees.

I for one would much rather want to be apart of the legacy left by the team trying to reach that goal... if kids stop leaving their current program and all stay together they can get to the end result so much faster. It will also be so much more rewarding. It is so much easier to win/ be successful when you have the with the most talented kids coming from all over the place.

Crafty kat, it's simple. Just as you have a right to support it, other people have a right to not. Your opinions are your own, and both sides are entitled to feel the way they do.

I don't really have a problem with a business doing what a business needs to do, I only have a problem with the fact that there is already people complaining about a lack of competition at some competitions already (obviously not the major ones) but I don't want to go to a competition and see only one gym because they knocked everyone else out, wheres the competition in that?

Then it is called a showcase.

We all know its business, but some of us do like to build a family environment and want our kids to grow together. Competitive cheerleading wasn't always like this but has grown into a very cut throat sport.

I agree 100%. Just stating my opinion on the subject. Im from the area that the new gym is moving to. Im glad for the option. Had a not so great experience with how the other gym in the area is run and while I love PCM my only option with them is to drive a long distance. Im not a stay at home mom so Im greatful to have another choice. Just want to state the positives of this situation. I cant speak for the situations that have gone down when Cali has moved in, but i can only speak for this one. I think that the smaller gym in the area may be effected but they have fostered a very negative atmosphere with many problems going on and thats what in the end will hurt them. There was never another choice that provided what we needed until now. Again I think its important that the positive aspects on "this" situation is put out there.
