this argument will go on forever about any big gym moving to any area of the country.
when you're the smaller gym that's in the area where the big gym is coming, it's sad to think that you'll probably lose some athletes. people will say that they're "glad the big gym is coming because it's going to bring more competition!"...yes, there are some people that really feel this way. but a lot of people will feel sad, mad, nervous, betrayed, etc. when you have no affiliation with either gym, you say "cheer is a business!", "keep your athletes satisfied and they won't move", etc. which is also true...but it's easy for you to say when you're not involved. i have been in both of these situations so i know this is how i felt (which of course is not true for everybody).
the bottom line is: yes, athletes will leave their gyms and go to cali. yes, the smaller gyms have athletes that are satisfied with where they're at and feel a sense of loyalty to that gym and will not leave. yes, the smaller gyms have athletes that want a ring, and will move to a gym where they feel like they can get one. yes, cheer is a business and a successful expansion is one of any business' ultimate goal.
