I am a male who weighs about 170lbs with medium strength, I have never been involved in cheerleading, but my girlfriend (125lbs) is trying to involve me and wants me to toss to hands her. I have been able to hold her legs stabilized near my chest, but when I try to extend upwards I can't extend all the way up. How do I gain more strength to do this? Does this mean at the gym I would need to be able to press about 130+ lbs?

You could be able to lift way more than she weighs in the gym and still not be able to stunt her. It depends on technique (from both of you) so I would suggest going to an open gym where there are coaches around to help and spot and teach you how to do it correctly.

So you think it may not be a limitation in regards to my strength? Once I have the feet stabilized near my chest, I bend down and push upwards in one motion with all my strength but can't extend. Not sure how to get past that part.

I would make sure that you are using your legs as opposed to going strictly on arm strength. My coaches (bench 450) wouldn't be able to get me off the ground without using their legs, and of course, proper technique.

We are the best, or silver black and blue. Cowboys

The best work out you can do for all coed stunting is the clean and jerk. The form for a clean is the same basic for for a toss to hands and the form for a jerk(minus the moving yours legs) is the same
