I guess I am lucky. My gym is only 10 minutes away. 3 days a week, so it is really an easy commute. It is over some country roads, but no complaints here. Our gym is a little away from the main metro Pittsburgh area, so I am sure that helps.
:cheering:So far, we'll miss 4 scheduled days this year. If we attend another away competition, it could rise to 6.
Kids on our level 5 team will miss some more days, since they got a worlds bid. :D:cheering:
I would say that there was no doubt that SSX had a great routine. They were awesome! All of the teams had good parts to their routines, too. Remember, it is still early in the season. There are many great routines to come!
I am not a big fan of it, but I understand why it is done. The cheer competitions are trying to make some extra money. The extra fees are higher for everyone involved.
I appreciate the candid responses from everyone, especially the coaches and owners. I was not sure if this happened in other areas of the country.
I think it is very interesting that some people chose to attack me. You can attack the messenger all you want, but it made our gym look bad. It seems...
So, to sum things up, people feel both ways. Some of you prefer to teach your kids or athletes to root for others to fail. That is fine. This is your choice.
My point was that not everyone was or should be ok with this line of thinking. I am not. Other parents in our program...
Steve, you make a fair point, but what happened to doing your best and let the scores sort it out?
I think it is different when you are dealing with amateur athletes who are kids. I would not want my kid to root for failure for someone else or for another team to fail. You win on your...
Our program has been successful the last couple of years. That being said, I was embarrassed at the behavior of some athletes, coaches, and parents at a recent event in Pittsburgh this month.
I saw kids, parents, and even some coaches from our program cheering when another competitors team...
I am just stating the facts about our gym. I realize that it is common with quite a few gyms. We have another level 5 team, but our level 5 crossovers are on quite a few teams in the 4 and 3 levels I worry more about the injury factor for someone doing 2 or 3 teams.
I would love to...
Our gym strongly encourages crossovers. Hotcheer Hot 5 has kids that placed 4th in the small coed worlds on Senior 3 and Junior 3 teams this year and last year.
I personally am not a huge fan. I think it is unfair that we have worlds team members going down so far in level. We have a ton...
There are no differences this year. Just differences in team sizes, Small 20, medium 30, large 36.
The current system favors the larger gyms who have hundreds of athletes to choose from. Our gym is bigger this year, but we are only fielding 2 level 5 teams. Restricted 5 and small all...
I thinks ours were $ 275-$300. The bigger gyms like ours get a bigger discount. I think our uniforms are changing next year. Lets face it, most gym owners are making at least $ 100 off each uniform. It is a cash cow for the owners.
Canada is a tiny country compared to the USA. They also have a robust oil and gas economy, so they are richer overall than the USA.
Open teams seem like they are tough to keep together. Nothing like real life to crush your dreams of cheering forever.
