Unfortunately I know more than the half of it. That's why this was no surprise to me.

For the bolded part: Allowing kids to make mistakes is one thing. Watching it and turning a blind eye to it is another. And "kids" can mean a lot of different things. I allow my 17-year-old (soon to be 18:() to make a lot more mistakes now than I did 2 years ago. Not all of these kids we're talking about are 18+ though. Yes, I agree that 17,18,19 is an age where you'll learn more from making some mistakes than someone telling you not to do things. But 15-16? No, you're still going to do what the heck I say.

And as a mom I have to say, glad you're taking so many showers - good hygiene matters. ;)

I was worried some of my posts may across this way. I was hoping the combination of the 2 posts may prove my true intention. Had my parents allowed me the freedom they allow me now 2-3 years ago, I don't think I'd have learned the same lessons, and I don't think I'd have turned out with the same maturity level, but that doesn't mean that I was always strictly monitored, and sheltered from everything. I've always been aware of the substances my parents experimented with and regularly used as a teen, I've always been aware of the dangers, but my parents have also stressed the consequences of those actions, not only physically with myself, but of course with their punishments, and once they had taught me those things, the rest was up to me. When I read the comments on these boards, you people (I use the term "you" not directly implying you who I'm quoting) seem to be setting your teenagers up for these actions. The ages kids experiment with things is dropping. Just the other day I had this talk with my math teacher. She said during her days, it was always college/university that a young adult experimented with different things, and now it's become high school. Heck even 4 years ago when I was starting high school, things weren't the same as they are now for first year high schoolers. It's a shame, but it happens, and I think parents have to start better equipping themselves to deal with that than 100% protection. A small child has to (usually) touch a hot stove to know not to do it again just as a teenager needs to experience the repercussions on their body of actions they take to not want to do it (and I'm in NO way saying that as soon as a kid tries something, they won't want to do it). I'm not saying as a parent go buy your kid alcohol, or support them in partying with people years above their own age, but also don't sit here and say "my kid will not go out after 10pm yada yada yada" (and I'm not speaking just at Disney) because you ultimately are forcing your children to go behind your back to try things you haven't educated them about (and school sure as hell doesn't do a good job of it these days) and you end up punishing them more harshly, and the cycle continues.

Actually the security guards are there to babysit and this is the USASF's crowning event. The USASF can suddenly come up with ridiculous rules that were put in place for the "safety" of the athletes, well a drunk fest should be their biggest concern. They can put in place an image rule about males being overly exaggerated, well honey this is one bad image they are portraying. One last note, as a former teen myself, teenagers almost NEVER think about the consequences of their actions. they are all about the here and now!

Ok, why am I arguing with a teen???

The 4 disney security guards are not babysitters. Their job is to ensure safety around the resort area for ALL patrons. Personal responsibility as well as parents/chaperones/coaches responsibility falls in line next.

Back in the day, when I was an underage teen and we "partied" and got someone to get us alcohol, we did our underage drinking in private, we didn't make a public spectacle of ourselves, nor did we think that we "were owed" as so many teens in this day and age do. Most likely, you won't even realize what life lessons you learned from your parents without having to do it yourself until you are in fact a parent yourself. And I can't remember a single time during my teen years where we felt the need to publicly make fools of ourselves doing something illegal during a sanctioned sporting event. We would have been thrown off the team without a second thought and some coaches probably would have kicked our a$$es.

Although I have partaken in my fair share of public drunken outings, I'm not saying we're all the same because of this incident, and I'm not saying that getting, as the saying goes, white girl wasted in the middle of a Disney resort with a hundred other plastered teens just waiting to take one back to your hotel and make the magic happen (Disney pun anyone?), I'm trying to get the point across that as much as you tell your kids something isn't right, as much as you drill it into their head that their actions have repercussions, it doesn't always work. If you've had success, then more power to you, and I applaud your children for being able to stay away from such substances at a young age, but I'm telling you as a teenager who knows a good amount of teenagers and I know for a fact that just because my mom tells me drinking is bad, I'm not going to think so until I've proven that fact for myself.

Alcohol at parties is never good, I hate to say this but you never know who will be around you...... Someone can easily slip something into your drink whether your at disney or just drinking with "close" friends in private. There will always be perverts or sex offenders and getting really drunk you can be easily taken advantage of, from what I'm reading this party was out of control and someone could have easily been kidnapped or raped. (Don't say it cant't happen because its disney... read this article: Disney worker accused of raping woman in Caribbean Beach Resort - Orlando Sentinel or Florida Man Charged With Raping Girl At Disney Resort | North Country Gazette or Deputies Investigating Attempted Rape At Disney Resort | www.wftv.com) For those who think that I should post about sexual assaults or rape, guess what it does happen and it can happen to anyone, anywhere and people reading the forum thinking its cool to go to the block party and drink need to realize this and that it can happen on Disney properties..

I have tried to read all of this & take in all aspects. My cp doesn't go to the block party but instead goes to Magic Kingdom with some of her teammates. Her exact words are "why would I want to see girls looking like whores, throwing themselves at guys, and acting stupid?" Ha ha Of course, there are exceptions but some of the way the girls were dressed that I saw at the all-star that night was ridiculous. I was sitting back with another friend from another gym just in shock! I so wanted to tell them they needed to put some clothes on & if they would have been from our gym- I would have!! I do think gym owners/coaches need to crack down on what is worn in public. We have a strict dress code and curfew but I know sometimes those rules aren't followed. We can't, as parents, babysit these kids 24/7. Sometimes they need to learn the hard way. I know as a teenager I drank and had to learn valuable lessons. That's life! And believe it or not, they are going to do it with or without your permission! Just sayin...
So to all of you that never drank & did stupid stuff as teenagers- congrats! You just have to raise your kid right and pray that they make good decisions. I'm not going to be nieve & think my cp will never drink..
As far as coaches not being able to enjoy their Sunday night of fun.. That's a crock too! They should be able to relax, have a drink and toast to a successful season without getting a phone call saying that they have crazy cheerleaders! Personally I think more parents should go & stop making a small group of parents be responsible for your kids dumb decisions! These kids are that... Kids!
I am not in any way saying that what happened is right, but I just think these kids need to be held accountable... For good & bad decisions!
Ok, I'm done ranting.

Its also a shame when someone is so drunk at the venue, and has to be escorted/physically helped out- because they can barely walk - during the competition..time and place people.
I was there when that happened! Sad thing is she dropped her vodka bottle out of her purse like 3 times in front of all the kids and was bragging about the prominent gym/team she used to cheer for. Shame she had to tarnish their name along with her own:( Then again Disney is selling beer in th ESPN bar and ouside at 3 different locations at WWoS so they are pretty much promoting drinking at a mostly minor age cheer event:(

I found myself disgusted with the human race at H2O in Ocean City this season (team bonding, not pleasant). I can't even imagine going to the block party. *shudders*

I know RTB used to have a party at the one of the banquet hall H2O while the real H2O was opened in addition to it being Spring break season. My whole team left the RTB party for the actual H20 (snuck in the younger girls who were down for it), no one drank but the deff weren't comp ready at 10 am. I was barley 13 and my parents didn't let me go and I was okay with it. This past Summer my friends went and one of my friends said that on of them whose 15 tops, was drunk in a bikini in the cage.

That's in a actual club for teens so I can only imagine a party at a resort with teens.

I saw the same scenario -only inside a venue, during competition...not referring to the same person - just scenario.

I saw this too during the competition. Underage Athletes would compete and then not an hour later be drinking "water" and then chase it with a soda. Very classy.....

I honestly thought most of the dancing was tasteless and crude, except for me getting in the cage and doing the sprinkler. That's classy. ;) But there was deffinately alcohol there as well. I hated the fact that it was a team bonding thing so we had girls who justed turned 13 in there. Not the type of enviornment I'd ever want to get myself in again.

I have a parent in the law system Id couldn't get away with it. Although I wouldn't mind going just for fun, I love a good train wreck.

There were pictures posted on twitter of the alcohol bottles in the fierceboard section where they would refill their water bottles. Some people really think that if they post it on the internet to their twitter accounts it is alright, no really it isn't and it makes you look even worse. I know you are not 21 so why post a picture of your big vodka bottle? You don't look cool you look stupid.

Believe this is the first year for this rule. Haven't heard any word yet on if it has or has not been enforced.

Samantha, the agreement was actually put in place about 4 years ago after lots of complaining on the boards about issues at the All Star and Block party.

To my knowledge no one has ever had it enforced.

Heard this song driving home. Decided that even stupid people deserve anthems.

"Young, Wild & Free"
(with no apologies to Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg and Bruno Mars)

So what we get drunk?
So what we throw fulls?
We’re just having fun
We don’t care who yells
The All Star’s full up!
That’s how it's supposed to be
Living young and wild and free

Uh, Uh huh
So what I keep ‘em rolled down?
Saggin’ my sof’s, not caring what I show
Keep it real with my sistas
Keep it player for the beaus
And look sharp don't we?
Modeled it the other day, watch how you breathe on it
Give me some new GK bling on it
Throwin’ doubles and breakin’ fingers
Tumblin’ drunk, not worried ‘bout stingers
You a class clown and if I skip a Friday
With my team at the pool all day

You know what?
It’s like I’m 17 again
Worlds lights in my face
Fightin’ as a base
Tryna find a hella taste
Oh my god, I’m on the chase, Chevy
It's gettin’ kinda heavy, relevant, sellin’ it
Dippin’ away, time keeps slippin’ away
Bustin’ my face, flippin’ for pay
Tippin’ like I’m drippin’ in paint
Up front, four stunts, now, “The Milkhouse got closed today? No way!”

So what we get drunk?
So what we throw fulls?
We’re just having fun
We don’t care who yells
The All Star’s full up!
That’s how it's supposed to be
Living young and wild and free

And I don't even care
Cause if me and my team in there
There's gonna be some girls in the air
Good night, Worlds

So what we get drunk?
So what we throw fulls?
We’re just having fun
We don’t care who yells
The All Star’s full up!
That’s how it's supposed to be
Living young and wild and free

Yeah, drink up, full up
When you live like this you’re supposed to party
Drink up, full up, and we all just having fun
So we just, Drink up, full up
When you live like this you’re supposed to party
Drink up, full up, and we all just having fun
