Wow small world lol! I've seen you on the board for about 4 years but I was confused that day, I probably didn't recognize you!
Dang, I should have posted about being there on here before and then maybe we could have met each other! That day was so confusing with all the secret service there and whatnot.

Being the home team, we thought we could do our normal warm up, but the Secret Service vans were parked there. My parents sat a few rows up from the Pres., but being from the DMV we are used to seeing him and they said the fanfare made it hard to enjoy the game. Sad he didn't stay for the UMD game tho!

Our basketball team's bus broke down when they were trying to get to the came so they had to take cars and almost didn't get in because of it. It was so crazy, we needed escorts to go everywhere--even the bathroom where only two people were allowed in at once. Plus we never got one at halftime so we couldn't use the bathroom or anything. Which sucked for me because I was sick and in desperate need of a cough drop lol. We got on the court with 40 secs left on the clock before tip off. It was pretty annoying lol.
Yeah he left right after our game. Our players had to wait for him to leave the court for them to go back to the locker room. I felt bad for them because I'm sure they just wanted to leave.

They have the SS at college sporting events? Was the president there?

He has visited my HS twice, the second time was 'top secret' and parts of the school was blocked off and students weren't allowed to bring backpacks to class for reasons unknown, until later.
Presidential visits: Fun in theory, a hassle in real life.

Yes! His niece plays for Princeton and during the first rounds of NCAAs he went to the game at UMD!

Speaking of presidential visits, he's speaking at a children's museum on my block tomorrow. TRAFFIC IS GONNA BE A BLAST.

The Secret Service stuff was crazy. Our basketball teams bus broke down so they had to be driven to the game via parents and fans that drove to MD for the tournament, and secret service almost didn't let them in because they didn't believe their story and that one of the teams was going via cars...obviously I understand that it's just safety precaution but the basketball team was almost last for their warm up

He visited a university at which I was working on some professional development/grad courses during his 2012 campaign (part-time evenings.) It was pretty crazy.

All cars were asked to vacate the lot where I normally parked 3 days in advance of the event and the day of the event itself.

I needed an entirely different temp pass to park in an entirely different lot for 4 days because no other cars could be parked where his transportation would be parking.

The day of the event, there were also snipers on the roof of pretty much EVERY building adjacent to the building in which the event was held.

A 10 minute commute also turned into an hour and a half because I just happened to leave the area at the same time as the President. All surrounding roadways were blocked off, including the exact ones I needed to use to get home.

...and this was just for the ONE DAY 2 hour workshop I took. I can't imagine all the kids living on campus and regularly parking on campus and what security was like for them. Or for the people who worked in the venue regularly.

(It is the SS's job to keep him safe. I get it. It just blew my mind how much went into having him come up for ONE event.)

I know how you feel with my school being on Pennsylvania Ave, 3 blocks from the White House, it's a daily occurrence here haha.
He's also scheduled to leave the downtown area with "rolling blockades" to the airport "around 5pm." I live in the downtown area and work near the airport. And I get off at 5pm. -_____-

Today might be a good day to work late.

That's not as bad as the Bama cheerleader that got kicked out of the program after saying War Eagle on ESPN (he had previously cheered at Auburn). Now that was dumb. It's not like he hurt anyone.

I'm tempted to e-slap some of the commenters under that article.
Lol. That's the greatest thing ever. Is there video?
I know this is an old post but I'm just now reading it.
