Hey there!
I need some tips if anyone has ideas. My squad of girls has made HUGE gains this year in stunting. Last year they were only able to elevators/preps) which fell half the time, straight cradles, and wonky basket tosses. This year they are doing solid extensions, beautiful baskets, full downs, show n gos, pyramids, ect. They are currently able to do 1 leg stunts (scales, scorpions, libs) at the prep level, but are struggling to get anything 1-leg at the extended level. Any tips for helping them get those 1 leg stunts to extended level (for either flyers or bases)???

Thanks!

A lot of times when they can't push through to the top is because they're only pushing with their legs up until prep level, but once they get there they try to muscle it all up with their arms. Make sure that they're keeping the flow and momentum of that initial push and not pausing once they get halfway there. Make sure their timing is on and that the bases and backspot are really stepping together and up through the center.

They do a good job of doing this. What they really struggle with I guess is balance it. They can get up to extension level...power isn't a problem...it's the stability of the stunt.

My flyers always say that they feel much more stable when their bases and backspot really squeeze their foot/ankle. The flyer shouldn't be balancing, she should just be tight and squeezing her whole body, the bases should be super close together, chest to chest, creating a post underneath her stable enough to stand on.

Flyers:
Work on pushing off the bases shoulders when you are dipping to go up.
As soon as you are in the air, lock your knee and squeeze, do NOT stick your hip/butt out because this will cause the stunt to travel and most likely fall.
No matter what is going on with your bases under the stunt, NEVER bend your knee and give up. Always fight to keep the stunt up no matter how impossible it seems.
Do not toe or heel. Try to keep a flat foot because it will be easier for your bases to hold you this way.
BE CONFIDENT. If you are confident in your stunt group and your abilities your stunts will always be more solid!

Bases:
For the dip to go up, do not go up first. Instead go down then up into the stunt. Also do not make the dip TOO big, because this might cause the stunt to wobble and make it difficult for the flyer to stand up.
As soon as the flyer pushes off, stand up and lock your arms above your head. Do not hesitate or go up too slow because this will not only hurt your arms, but cause the stunt to fall.
Never let the stunt go over your head! If the flyer falls in that direction it is almost impossible for you to catch her!
Some bases find it easier when in extended one legged stunts to bend their knees. This is optional and depends on what you perfer.
If the flyer is toeing, tilt the toe up slightly to prevent from falling forwards. If the flyer is heeling, tilt the toe down slightly to prevent from falling backwards.
BEND WITH YOUR KNEES TO CRADLE NOT YOUR ARMS.
Make sure your grip on the foot is secure to make it easier to hold the stunt up.
:)

Thank you!!!!

the entire group needs to stand close together, keeping chest to chest, never stop pushing even when its up there the bases should still be pushing up, make sure the flyer keep their buts in and the backspot pull up as much as possible:)
