Hi friends! so after never being a tumbler my entire life i recently decided i was going to get a standing tuck, and then I did!
I was thinking of making a youtube series called "tumbling in my twenties" about learning all of these skills now in university instead of as a child, do you think anyone would be interested in this? I have to produce something for my film class and thought this might be interesting
    :)

Just want to say a massive well done! I'd also be really interested in this as I've had a mental block on back handsprings for ages and can't get myself to do it without a spot despite being told for years that I have the skill solidly. Is there anything you can recommend to get over a mental block like this as I feel like if I had done it as a kid I'd be a lot better than I am right now.

I actually was planning on making a video on this!
I am AWFUL with mental blocks, I cant throw my backhandspring with the same problem as you, but a few weeks ago i just walked up on the tumble track had one spot, one hover spot then on my own. was throwing them the rest of the day (on tumble track only)
I think it's hard because as an adult and doing something new you have the mind frame of death is actually a possibility of this skill etc etc but I've started giving myself little rituals. Most days I cant do my tuck unless my coach counts me in.
On bad mental days I need to have one specific coach give 1 solid spot, 1 flat hand spot, 1 hover spot, then count me in standing beside me.
its awful and I'm getting threw it but some days I have no problems? I did over 27 in a row in a tuck circle a few weeks ago but then the next practice i couldn't do it without a spot. Mental tumbling is the worst :(

My old program in SC are your new SSR5 SOH national champions!!! Their first ever level 5 team! Most of these girls have only been working on level 5 skills since the summer. This gym will always have a special place in my heart ❤️

My 12 yr old finally threw her full on the floor first time. She has battled mental setbacks with her full and needing a spot over the last year. She said she was ready to try it walked into tumbling and threw it first thing. The relief of her battling and winning against her mental fears is undescribable.

Both of my teams earned jackets yesterday! My mini prep also won grand champs and my junior prep scored their highest so far! We only have one competition left and I’m definitely going to cry.

Ok so I’m gonna brag about my DH...

He took a train down to DC with my son so that they can watch my CP compete. It will be the first time he sees her this season!!! Recorded video of him and Son surprising her at our hotel last night!!! I can’t stop watching it! Will post video a little later!!

Not sure how to do it from IG or Facebook lol

Super proud of my CP’s team Sirens for winning BATC, winning grand champs and the Wow award! I’m also very proud of her for filling in on super seniors very last second (like...backstage at warmups) and helping them hit Zero! It’s been an overall incredible weekend.

Its not much but I got to compete my first ever stunt group at university nationals in Birmingham a few weeks ago. Although UK cheer is definitely not as advanced as college cheer in the states I'm still very proud of my level 2 stunt group as we had a back spot change 2 weeks before competing and still managed to pull off a first place and highest score for level 2.

Competing a stunt group routine, with member changes and pulling off a win and level high score is awesome, congrats! Be proud of that and own it. You've put in the required work and whether or not its compatible to the us,shouldn't matter.
Cheerleading is still a very "young" sport in europe, compared to the us. I believe it has been around for 200 years in the US, we will catch up eventually and we keep on being awesome cheerleaders in our own right, in the meantime. :)

CP's high school varsity squad won Regionals this past weekend which puts them automatically in the finals at State! This has been a weird season. It's CP's first time on varsity - last year she was JV. She originally wasn't even going to be on the mat but has been since the first comp. They've generally had issues at almost every comp - the first time they won, they did it even with a fall because their difficulty was higher. They had one slight bobble this past weekend but everything else finally hit!

It's doubtful they'll place high at state as her team only has one full and other teams have standing fulls, but they are so happy to have made it to day 2!!
