Just wondering how often NCA rules update, like every year? every few years? and if they do, when do they usually come out?

For the most part NCA follows AACCA rules which are updated every summer.

Intermediate divisions have additional restrictions and I don't know how often they are updated. They will be in the in the NCA College Nationals book that you can get here - http://nca.varsity.com/pdfs/college_sgb.pdf.

I am not positive how many years are in between changes, but this years rules are already out. I also know the scoresheet changed this past year to add the importance of unassisted stunts and jumps to full so I am not sure if that will change again this year or not.

ETA: Opps looks like we posted at the same time.

I don't plan on reading the NCA College Book until April.

I really didn't see anything different for intermediate divisions at NCA than last year..... the restrictions seemed the same? No flipping baskets, no fulls, no standing tumbling into a back/layout/full, no released full twists to a stunt, no released flips into a stunt, no double downs, etc. Kick double baskets still allowed. If anyone sees the changes, feel free to inform us.

The rules are all the same, I believe. They changed the score sheet making every category woth 10 points and moved motions and dance from having their own category to the choreography section of the score sheet. They also clarified the partner stunt section in the 9.5-10 point category. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

grrr, just think its stupid that u canNOT do a prep double down but u can kick double baskets...

agreed. Some of the kick doubles were pretty scary last year. Plus if a flyer doesnt have the body awareness to double from a prep, a double basket is going to be even worse as both rotations are spinning down really in comparison to one rotation up from the pop and one rotation on the way down in cradles.
