That one is sad to see. Where in Texas were they located?
Houston I believe
Additional locations absolutely have the potential for diminishing returns. There was a recent local acquisition, and a friend called the flagship and asked if the acquired gym would be the same quality. And the flagship pretty much said "No, we will mentor them and share a brand but that's it"
Is the cheer extreme myrtle beach a new location or did they take over another gym?
Doesn’t seem anyone knows at this point. Be odd timing for a new gym with all the other gyms having tryouts this week.
Isn't their beach camp usually hosted out of a gymnastics gym in Myrtle Beach? Maybe they're doing a couple teams out of that location?
Isn't CEA already in SC?
I don't know NC or South Carolina geography, but I always wonder with the "multiple locations in same smaller state" thing if gyms ever wonder about the potential of jeopardizing one of their existing gyms?
Not an issue in big states like California, Texas, etc. but I wonder if gyms ever expand a few times within a certain area to the point that Location A and Location B start competing for same kids?
Ex: Doesn't Rockstar have a number of NC and SC locations?
I don’t believe they’re in South Carolina yet, although they aren’t far from it. they’re really really saturated in that one area. You’d have to think they’d be in competition with one another.. if I’m not mistaken, Kernersville, Salem, Raleigh, Charlotte and Sanford are all within ~2 hour drive of each other. Crazy!
A parent on here posted once that her kid was on a team at the main location but filled in on a team at another for a little while. I remember thinking "omg who is driving a kid to a whole other location" but then someone posted that they were not that far apart.
That makes me curious as to the size of all the locations if they are all that close? I only regularly hear/read about Kern and Raleigh. Do the others have many teams?
I would think that they are in competition with each other but I also heard that kids aren't allowed to switch between locations without permission.
I counted 4 in SC and 2 in NC for Rockstar
Only a few teams are in the same divisions. And we rarely if ever compete against each other. We rarely go to the same competitions. Last season we competed once against a team from another location. Even though this area may seem small traffic is horrid and 12 miles may take you an hour in the evening. I don’t know of any kids that cross to other locations. Salem and Kernersville are split by teams
I did notice that Raleigh and Kernersville don't compete against each other that I've seen. Not sure if they intentionally do not field teams in same divisions or it just happens that way?
Coed Elite and Smoex (?) competed against each other this past season.
They don’t give us that info but with Raleigh having so many teams it seems thought out. I believe last season there was only 1 division shared between the 2 and they didn’t compete against each other until summit. And we don’t go to any comps together.
