I have no say anymore.
My kid thinks she is going to wear the most recent black oo5 uniform from Cheersport? (in some weird far away universe) she is so obsessed with them. I use to hate uniforms you couldn't wear a bra with but I give up. I know like everyone says they wouldn't wear a uniform they couldn't wear an appropriate bra with but I haven't heard of someone quitting a high profile team yet because of it. I say if it's really an issue just wear a supportive bra and let your straps show. I've seen much worse.
Well, Drkilluzionz said that he made sure support was built into the 005 uniforms, so maybe there would be no issue I am not sure if it came just from the straps or if there was other parts built into it. I loved how that uniform morphed throughout the season, and with all the straps I would hope that the athletes felt comfortable in it. The bondage look that people complained about might have reinforced the girls
I know that I have been joking around with my responses tonight, but it is a serious issue, imo. As a girl who seemed to sprout double Ds overnight in sixth grade, I have struggled with proper support in daily life, let alone while trying to do sports. While no one knows if someone has left a big name team because of the uniform; I can assure you that it does come into play.
There have been several studies about how many more girls leave sports during their tween and high school years, compared to boys. The majority of them have cited "body image" as one of the main reasons why they leave. Knowing this, I just don't understand how appearance has overruled logic. If your entire team feels good, they will perform their best. I am all for bling and creative designs. I love the pageantry of the sport; but that should ALWAYS take a back seat to providing the athletes with the best means to accomplish their goals. Finding the right necklines and cutouts that will also allow for a supportive bra should be the priority, not an after thought.
fwiw, I don;t put this only on the gym. The uniform companies should be taking the time to properly fit everyone; wether it is adding in length for taller athletes or making larger cups etc .
