Our gym doesn't have a hard and fast rule about the pool. Whenever we do comps with overnight travel, there's always the speech about "being smart" when it comes to pool time and other activities before/during a competition. (especially a multi-day one) But there's no ban - I honestly think there would be a riot if we told the kids going to Disney, Kalahari, et al., that they couldn't go to the waterpark while they're there. And I agree - while it's true that you're there to compete, these are still kids, and kids are entitled to have some fun.

When I played travel soccer, we never had a specific "pool rule", but I was usually so beat after 2 games on a Saturday that going swimming was the last thing I thought about.

are gyms not allowed to use pools at worlds? i get that you should NEVER swim before, but i don't really see a problem swimming after
