When I was looking for info on Cheer Extreme, I saw that Wake Forest All Starts got their business license in June of 95. So they're almost 18

And Greensboro All Stars license is from August 1995, but they could have operated as something else since that's what their website implies
They were around way before that bc I graduated in 95 (from a school in Greensboro) and quite a few of our cheerleaders cheered there.

I once heard El Popa started CEA while she was in high school. So she was charging people to be on a team she was also on but coaching. Not sure if that is true or not but it's a great story. A little backwards math, if that was true, would put that around 93/94?
Sorta...half true
She was the captain of our cheerleading squad in HS (all four years I think) and did start CEA while in HS -I just never knew that at the time..always thought we were just playing around w/Kelly (who was in elementary school, at the time w/my brother) during practices bc she loved cheer and wanted to learn (also had no idea at the time that Courtney started that elementary school's first cheerleading program while she was in HS as well), which I think she started while we were in 10th grade maybe?

Anyway, point being I had no idea she had actually started either but she had (god knows where she found the time bc she was also at the top of our class- so yes, she's always been incredibly determined and does the impossible, lol ;)). So she started CEA w/a small group of girls in HS and continued to grow professionally at quite an impressive rate for someone who was also getting her masters degree at one of our medical schools here, AND cheering for them as well. *meanwhile I'm surfing the internet and watching Friends, when I should be doing my homework...

But, she never cheered/competed for CEA herself.

True. Kelly Smith was on her first team and they were know as the Panthers. They practiced in her parent's yard and then in their church basement. I believe they had one team to start of 15 kids. I think it was 94 and she was 15. This was the classic roll out the mats, go to every local activity in every gym and parking lot. We started in 97/98 at Pro Spirit Dazzlers in Lewisville NC which became Tanya Boyle's CSA after Ginny from CEA took over the gym from Teresa Newell who started the gym and who's husband helped me build my gym. We went with Pro Spirit to the first Cheersport in Atl, not Charlotte, I do believe, I think there were 70 teams in the same location, bottom left of WCC. It was our dream to go to NCA and win from the first. The first great cheerleader we saw was a kid from the "Bears" there from a Georgia team named Whitney and I have forgotten the last name, may have been Johnson. Hannah Correll was the first cheerlebrity we knew and was Maddie's role model from CAC. We met Kevin B. and Jamie P at that competition.
lol..we were Juniors in 1994, so I think it must have been 1993 (which sounds right bc I remember being in the 10th grade when Kelly would be at practices often)

Wait, so are you saying Court also competed w/the team alongside Kelly?

Wilmington Allstars opened between 93-94. My oldest started in 1996 and they had already been open several years. It was started by Sandye Teague.
Abel Rosa, Reggie Ingram, and Billy Dunlap all coached with her. Unfortunately, we merged with a gymnastics center in 2006, that lasted only one season, and we lost the name. Billy then opened Cheer Infinity in 2007. Top Gun was at the first UCA Nationals I ever went to. The first Cheerport results are listed 1997 in my program.

It wasn't called that then, was it? The Internet was pretty young for someone to have named their gym after a website.

The 'interweb' says cheergyms.com was registered in 2001.
