All kids that I coach are "my" kids, even when I'm not coaching them anymore. I don't take credit for any skills they've mastered, but they'll always be my kids.

Always! I take your version as pride not ego. I think there is a big difference between pride in an athlete and ownership of an athlete!

To me unconditional love and respect is something coaches should be able to give their kids. And yes @njcoach they're my kids no matter what. Once they step into my life they will stay there even after they move on.

This is quite an amazing quote. Very rarely have I seen something as relavent to coaching in cheerleading.
