there was a shooting in a neighboring town yesterday, and in the article something popped up about my dad (a former police officer) and his shooting. i needed to tell somebody so i thought id put it here.
Gang graffiti connected with the police shooting of a teenager accused of trying to run over an officer showed up at two Santa Rosa schools and a city pool.
Graffiti was found at Proctor Terrace elementary and Santa Rosa High schools and the Ridgway Swim Center. The vandalism occurred overnight Wednesday, according to a Police Department memo.
The graffiti included the gang nickname of Alexander Rodriguez and named the officer who shot him, Joel Christensen, the memo said.
Police declined to discuss the memo or the graffiti, which appeared two days before Rodriguez, 16, was scheduled to be sentenced for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and escaping from a county juvenile facility.
Friday's hearing was postponed because he was undergoing medical treatment stemming from a gunshot wound.
Christensen was attempting to pull Rodriguez over Nov. 11 when the teen tried to hit him with a stolen Pontiac Grand Prix, police said. Christensen shot Rodriguez twice, hitting him in the hand and elbow.

i was in 5th grade when it happened and I remember just being so scared. we had reporters showing up at our house and a 24 hour police watch on our house. i wasnt allowed to play outside or answer the telephone. it was just really really really scary. its even worse to see how it still affects my dad today.
Sure sounds like this was a tough time for your dad, and especially for you. Being a police officer is not easy and bad situations they encounter at work, can be brought home for their family to deal with as well. My heart goes out to you and your dad. Please thank your dad for me for the work he did as a police officer.

i appreciate it :) he has PTSD now because of the graffiti death threats.
i hate when people accuse police officers of shooting too easily or for "no reason"
i feel like they dont have empathy. obviously theres exceptions to the rule, but if anybody was in a position of danger with one means of defense...

its frustrating.

Just procrastinating on my packaging design final project due tomorrow that I haven't started at all yet, my bad.

College is really starting to suck the life out of me after these past four years I've spent not retaining any information. And nothing like having a project due the day we come back from Thanksgiving break and my professor won't answer any of my emails so he'll just yell at me tomorrow. So done with this BS class.

LOL two hours later and this is where I am..

LOL my professor really would spew words at me again (mostly some more not so nice ones), but too bad my project is designing a package for a wine bottling company :( I can't even drink wine even though I'm 21 cause I'm allergic to grapes so this project is just so annoying to me, lol.
