I think the ALS ice challenge is awesome. Even if people don't donate, it makes the cause known and out there. It brings awareness in a harmless way (unlike the polar dip)

Agreed. One of my assistant coaches posted on Facebook how nobody on her timeline mentioned ALS in their challenge and how we're all so dumb and don't even know what it is and are just doing it for Facebook likes. I saw that and was so mad because
1). The first thing I said in mine was "I was nominated for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge..."
2). A dad of someone who used to cheer at my high school who was a huge part of our community passes away from ALS so I 100% know what it is.
So I just had to comment back and let her know what's up and she'll probably get pissed off. Oh well.

Good for you. I'm seeing my fair share of people complaining too. I know someone who's on their last end of the disease and it's heartbreaking. It's a terrible disease and any awareness is good awareness.

ALS is really personal to me. I've been praying everyday for a cure to be found, or for something groundbreaking to happen to get us closer and finally feel like my prayers have been answered! Seeing all the posts are seriously overwhelming. I've teared up so many times! Also, if you are doing the challenge, please please please at the very least MENTION it's for ALS! If you can get some facts and knowledge in there, please also do so :) apparently they're up to 15 million in donations! I'm just blown away!

The rule here is three times in a row and then youre done. And if you do call in due to being sick you have to bring a doctors note after the seconds call in.
People can just go MIA and not call or show up to work twice in a row? They wouldn't get fired till the third day in a row? That's pretty dang generous.

Ok, I'm so frustrated and need to vent. Will also take suggestions. I've been doing privates for the month of Aug/going to open gyms (twice a week - I found I was too tired to tumble well on days 3/4 in a row). I'm working on improving my RO BHS so I can add a tuck. I can already RO tuck and almost lay, but I haven't worked BHS in several years, cos it's just not worth the marks if that's all you can do in level 6. I used to compete them and have been throwing them for years before the break.

Anyway, I had 2 privates doing the BHS onto a mat. I tend to just throw the BHS, without waiting and going up on to my hands, so going up onto a crash mat really helped me to learn to wait. The second day, I was doing them on my own again, onto a small crash mat (maybe 4"). They were pretty consistent and my coach and I spoke about doing a few next week and then starting to add the tuck if they were this consistent again.

I had another private again last night (different gym) and my RO's have started going crooked again, leading to crooked BHS. I know my hands are pushing out of the RO either at different times/speeds, or something. Basically, they are not parallel, meaning 1 goes back faster. I can also feel my hips twisting slightly in the air as I try to compensate. They improved a bit when I stopped thinking about my RO and just went for it.

I'm tempted to go to open gym tonight and do RO flyback to a porta-pit to work just that, but I think I'll be too tired tomorrow to get much out of the private. I'm so frustrated cos I felt like I had such a good 2 weeks and now I've just gotten worse over the last 2 practices. I threw some RO tucks into the pit after to get my mind off of them and even those were moving several feet sideways now, which I don't normally do. I've got 3-4 more practices before heading back and now I'm worried that I'm not going to have any tumbling to show (especially if my RO is off enough that I'm not comfortable tucking out of it). My knees are pretty sore today too, which I've never felt after tumbling before.

Sorry for the super long post. I just need to vent cos I'm so mad that I seem to be losing all the progress I've been making all summer.

What are some good ways to get your foot in the door at local cheerleading gyms? I emailed two now that I have moved into college to see about like volunteer work or similar positions. Anyone have any ideas?

Go into the gym personally, talk to the owner if possible, and offer to act as a fill-in for athletes that are sick, out of town, late because of HS cheer, etc. If they have a special needs team offer to help with drills. Offer to wipe down matts or vacuum for gym time. Once they get to know you and your work ethic, it could lead to a paid position.

Thank you for the suggestion! One of the gyms i emailed actually emailed me back and im am going in later this week to meet with her to hopefully volunteer!

@GForce have you seen revenge? I really enjoyed it if you're still looking for something to watch, I think the first 2 seasons are on Netflix.

And whoever was asking about murder mystery parties I've done a couple if you want to pm me :) there's a company over here (idk if it's in the states too) called Inspector McClue and the box has everything you need if you want it to be easy!
that was me, but I was asking about books to read lol. But murder mystery parties sound fun.

That was me! My friend wants us to do it ourselves, but I feel like we'd be getting in over our heads. Any questions I'll ask! Thanks

Is there a way to upload pictures via the fierce app? I've tried before and it said "Upload Fail you do not have permission to view this page or perform this action"

The mall I work at is slowly getting covered in Christmas decorations, including a rather large Christmas tree.
Noticed that in hobby lobby a month ago. It used to be thanksgiving...then it was Halloween and now it's not even Labor Day. Smh. At some point the stores will just leave it up year round.
