My kids' cousin's team has an at large bid from a couple of weeks ago and is also not listed on the summit bid winners page. In small Y1. Get with it Varsity!

I think the Varsity page only lists the winners who actually accepted the bid (which may require paperwork/a deposit, etc). I know each gym has a certain timeframe after the competition to do this so it really could be the gym's fault and not Varsity's as an FYI.

Even small gyms usually have more than one coach. If the gym wanted to go D2, but a team wanted to try for a D1 bid (or vice versa) and they had a coach that could take them if they got a bid then I don't see why not. All they need is 1 coach to take them.

So could a gym/parents post about getting a summit bid and "we're going to Disney" etc but they haven't actually accepted the bid? Do you know how long they have? I'm just curious. Thx.

Definitely. Basically the registrations are due the month after you are awarded the bid. The Varsity site isn't completely up to date. My friend got a bid Jan 9 & her team still isn't listed.

ETA: yet some gyms that received bids more recently are on there. Maybe it has to do with when the registrations are received.

Was this a multiple location gym? If so, each of those gyms is run with their own coaches and athletes so, I can understand the circumstance where the location A with 400 athletes goes to the regular Summit while the location B with 75 athletes goes to D2.

Nope. Only one location. And it's really no concern to me. I just know all of our coaches try to be there to support all the teams and like the athletes and parents there as well to help show support. Plus any crossover issues that may arise.

We have accepted and our deposits have been paid. But it's all good. Few years ago same thing happened. We were at a comp and they announced our 4.2 as the bid winner. Our 4.2 received a bid months prior but never made the varsity site. They had to stop the awards and figure it all out. Luckily the bid went to our J4 instead

This is a huge problem that needs to be addressed asap

One of my daughter's teams is actually listed in the wrong division so mistakes can definitely happen. My post was more about the fact that most people expect Varsity to update the list with bid winners when in reality it is teams that have actually accepted the bid.

Same we won our paid small youth 3 bid a month ago,

But our j2 that won a bid a week later was updated the same week.

And yes the y3 people have paid and accepted. Lol

They haven't put any bids from the comp our y3 got paid at on the list yet. So it appears there is a lot missing!!

Our other teams all have bids and they are all listed.

We are waiting for bid announcements tonight from another comp and I know we should be getting another paid according to the declaration so once that is posted I'll be back to update! Which means our AL will be passed down for someone in Tulsa Oklahoma that was at athletics in December!

This is only the declaration for paid, they never posted the declaration for at larges.

Grand champs are guaranteed a paid.
4/5 combined - our 5 grand champ already has a paid, and the level 4 grand champ isn't a summit eligible team.

So I assume it would go to the next highest grand in one of those levels?!

I bet if they made separate D2 jackets, the problem would solve itself.

sorry if this was answered on earlier pages but can anyone explain why a wild card bid cannot be upgraded to an at-large but it can only be upgraded to a paid bid?
