So jealous. It's -11 here today but with the wind chill it's supposed to feel like -29. Yay

So I'm wearing a skirt today... Granted it's with tights but I'm a wimp with cold weather. And by cold I mean it's 49°. But we do have a high of 71° so I might take my tights off later... I do not know how you guys survive the winter... -29?! Geeeeez. I'm never leaving California.

Did a lab on blood today and had to get our fingers pricked. I don't do well with shots so I was shaking and crying to the point that my professor thought I was going to pass out if I stood up. I needed to be escorted to the water fountain because she was concerned I wouldn't make it without ending up on the ground. Turns out I am O-, which is amazing for donating blood, but unfortunately I could never make it through that. I also found out my hemoglobin levels are low, 9.7 g/dL. Last week my ECG was unreadable too so I'm a little scared about what's going on in my body.

I used to be scared of needles until I became diabetic. Now finger pricks are a breeze as are shots and infusion site changes. I wear an insulin pump so no more 5 shots per day but it sucked in the beginning. I still refuse though to give blood. That is a huge needle and they use a certain vein or artery I can't remember. It's not like giving blood for routine blood test. Also water doesn't do much your prof should have had juice boxes or dextrose tabs on hand.

haha DO NOT let the Red Cross know you're O- because they'll never leave you alone about donating

I've never understood having a fear of needles...then again I did get my bellybutton pierced at 13 and got the nape of my neck done after freshman year of college.

She didn't need sugar from giving blood. She felt like she was going to pass out from fear. But, they won't give out any good anti-anxiety meds for a school lab! ;)

My oldest started having a panic attack just seeing a needle last week. She does better giving a blood sample in the lab than she does getting a shot.

I would start adding some iron to your diet or taking a supplement. You probably need to get checked out thoroughly.

I'm not afraid of them either. I mean I don't love getting stabbed but I can do it with zero fear. I'll never be someone with piercings and tattoos since I'm allergic to metal. I got my ears pierced when I was five but I can't even wear earrings.

It's only the second day of lent and I've already messed up...I gave up meat and bread (did meat last year and my weird competitive self wanted to one-up that this year) and I forgot that pita is bread and had some with my lunch. Oh well, I guess I'll go an extra day after Easter...
On another note, it's a sunny 73 degrees here today and I've never been so thankful to live in SoCal than while reading this thread.
