Because they don't want people drinking before prom, I don't know why they think getting rid of limos and busses will help since most people drink before they leave anyway.
Eta: @crazyeyessassypants nope they just handed this out the the grade 12s

We always got a party bus for prom/homecoming but we never drank on it. We weren't allowed to chew gum walking into prom because it was assumed you were trying to hide the smell of alcohol so they wouldn't let you in.

Sigh. Brilliant. Kids have been drinking before and after prom since the dawn of time. Now they'll just be drinking *and driving*.

My mom is upset about it and my brother won't be going to prom until next year. I don't even think the school can tell people what they are and are not allowed to arrive in. Some kids go in huge groups and don't fit on anything other than a bus!

im so glad i graduated high school when i did, i get kids get crazier and more stupid as the years go on, but i think some schools are seriously over stepping on a lot of things now a days. you are a school, you are not the kids parent. people may agree to disagree on the subject but still.

this also happened recently to the Community college i went to a few years back recently...

I'm sorry, I can't take anything seriously that's written in Comic Sans.

It's almost like when governments think that teaching abstinence only sex Ed programs will stop teen pregnancies when in reality it only creates a bigger problem... Yeah great decision...

I literally just typed a comment about abstinence only education and then saw yours!

I didn't realize that proms were this strict! Yikes [emoji15] by the time my cp goes to prom they will probably be doing Strip searches.

My prom was very strict but we were still allowed to take limos. They would breathalyze one from each party walking in the door usually and if that person was under the influence they would search the whole party and limo/bus. I only went once but I remember the DJ stopping, cutting on the lights and a vice principal getting on the mic and calling out an entire limo group by name. They got busted for drinking and were suspended or something.

If anything, limos cut down on the drinking because they're required to have your age on file. If you're underage I believe you have to keep the partition down and whatnot. Kids arriving in their own cars = unsupervised = pounding drinks in the car.

Plus if kids are going to drink, wouldn't you rather them stay off the roads? Stupid.

We have to attend a prom meeting with our child and sign a contract before any ticket will be issued. And if your child is going with a date then both your child and their date's signatures plus the parents need to be on both contracts. Our school tried to curtail the after prom parties by having the prom on a Thursday night and then graduation on Friday at 5pm. All it changed is now the kids go to prom house on Saturday or Sunday instead.

We couldn't wear sunglasses, because you were obviously covering up blood shot eyes...

ohh yeah.. looking back, some of the classes i took while attending VCC had some of WORST professors.. like i honestly question why they thought they would be good teachers. i mean if you dont have good people skills, teaching is not the profession you should be getting into. im not surprised.... i had an art history teacher that threatened to fail the whole class once if they didnt participate enough in group readings.... she was also the teacher that locked three people out of the final for not showing up 15 minutes early..... ha, so theres that. (i do think they went to the school about it, and ended up being able to take the final later, but still)
i could go on... i have so many awesome stories about how crappy of a college VCC is.....

yeah that seems silly. when i went to prom all of our schools administrators would take the place of the limo driver to escort you out of the limo by hand to check in you were under the influence.
