I wonder if Josh was also sexually abused as a child?
I have to admit that I really enjoyed watching their show

The part that makes me the saddest about all this is that those poor girls probably blame themselves!

Yep. They're raised to believe that their dress is what attracts unwanted attention from male

I wouldn't be surprised if Jim Bob and J'Uterus gave them a "stern" talking to as well

I only read the article linked here so that's where I read the part where Anna knew. He told her and her parents because he wanted to be completely "honest and open" with who he is/was. I haven't read the actual police report. Do just google it lol or was there a link in here I missed?

I don't believe Anna knew as much as she's being scripted to say she knew, because that is what a good Fundie wife should do.

I have not read up on this but how come this came to light now? i honestly dont care about the duggars just because of their religious believes about us that are not straight are wrong but i feel for the kids..
It's been rumored for years. The rumor about the Oprah interview has been out for a long time

But intouch weekly posted the police report

And then the Duggars confirmed

oh ok thanks. i have not red anything since i really dont like the duggars but i probably should..

I can't wait for Jim Bob's statement claiming this fallout on the evil media and evil mainstream America and their lack of values and morals. Because I'm willing to bet they believe that everyone did this to them but themselves

And let's face it. That family and the mini families they've spawned, especially Jessa and her teen-groom need the coins they were getting from TLC, book deals and speaking engagements

Also. Major side eye to TLC. If Harpo productions found out in 2006 and cancelled their Oprah interview, there's no way TLC didn't know. I believe one or two specials aired around or during the incidents and one after. Then they gave them a series.

Oh yeah. They've been having specials running everywhere since they had like 12 kids and counting. Then they got the regular show a few years back.

Okay so now we know that long skirts and not showing your collarbone attracts religious molesters.

But really, I'd love to take the girls (mainly Jana, Jessa, Jinger, and Joy) shopping to buy some real, cute, modern clothes.

ETA: can we take a minute and talk about how the guy that gave Josh a "stern talk" is serving 56-years in prison for child pornography! Some "stern talk" he must have given...

My friends and I have a massive group chat and today's topic of conversation was this Duggar news. My friend brought up an interesting point of how crazy hard it would be to incriminate your own family. Think about it. If your mom/brother/sister/whoever told you they had been engaging in inappropriate acts, what would you do? Would you go straight to the police? I'm not saying I would or wouldn't, I'm just saying it is a very hard situation either way.

It's almost like Jim Bob had the right intentions knowing he should act on this, but the way he went about it was all wrong. 1. He obviously should not have waited a year to address it. 2. Josh should have been sent to an actual recovery program, not off to remodel houses with a family friend for three months. 3. Action should have been taken to protect and assist in the recovery of the girls (which it doesn't seem like there was any). Because at the same time, while Josh is his son, the victims are his daughters. The focus needs to be shared, and not just on "eliminating" the threat and covering it up.

Also to me it seems like the family treats this awful act as "sin" and that they can just pray it away, forgive and forget without addressing the ROOT of this problem and WHY Josh acted this way.

I don't follow the Duggars. Frankly they creep me out. I'm also pretty tired of people using their religious beliefs to justify whatever awful things they do or say, but I guess that's another conversation and not exclusive to their family.

What You Need to Know about the Josh Duggar Police Report

I thought this article was good. It's the only one I've read so far cause I'm still reading about this whole thing.

I watched a little bit of their show last night and was creeped out the whole time. I only watched because of what has come out and wanted to see how they acted with each other (even though I know this was taped before). What struck me as odd is when Michelle blamed what she used to wear (mowing grass in a bikini) as the reason men/boys have impure thoughts and it is up to her to make sure she is covered up now to make sure that doesn't happen anymore. That her neighbor used to watch her or something - so I totally now believe they think it is the girls responsibility not to "tempt" the men - that the men can't help what they do. It is sick and twisted. I think they cultivated the atmosphere that led Josh to do what he did. He has something wrong with him obviously, but being raised the way he was didn't help him. I wish the girls could just leave.

These people are a cult. They use God to make excuses for their insane behavior and to "blame" for why they do what they do. They use Him they do not serve Him. Is anyone surprised their kids are screwed up?

I agree. There really isn't anything Christian about their behavior, beliefs or lifestyle. They have subjected their innocent children to that lifestyle -that is what is sad, which they will continue with their children - a few of them need to get out and break the cycle. They will need some psychological help/counseling if that were to ever happen to rejoin society.
