Yep. Same owner. You will also see that Power always scores very high at their competitions. I do believe this year that power exclusively attends the aloha/gssa events.

I don't know about their scoring or the closeness of a gym owner to an EP (heard that one too) but I will say the Power teams I've seen this season have been very solid teams. Well executed routines. And I'm not the only one who noticed. My CP's team competed against them this weekend and at GSSA in Visalia.

Now those red thunder sticks...

OK... A few minutes ago when I clicked this link, I was totally confused. Why were there multiple senior level 5 coed divisions? It had large coed listed twice, with different teams under each. Same with medium coed, and small coed. Then small, medium, and large all-girl.

And I couldn't find tglc - they were there, right?

Then I just clicked now to look again, and the whole page is gone. [emoji19] Yeah... That lends mucho credibility to this whole thing.

So I am under the impression that the owner of Gssa and Champion League are one in the same. Same process of judges choice.

GSSA and Aloha are the same owner, but when CL became a thing, they chose GSSA as the EP to run their event. At least that's what I remember

Why CL is even a thing, IDK. LOL

NO doubt, they have always been a powerhouse up in norcal. And for a great time they had an amazing level 5 team, that I do believe they are now trying to rebuild as they got hit pretty hard when Livermore opened up.

Laughing so hard right now about the thunder sticks. It is a love hate thing. I love that they have their own thing and you can't fault them for that. it works for them, but...
I have to agree with you that power has really strong and solid teams this season and them winning has nothing to do with knowing the EP. The teams look great from all levels You can't take away from the talent and hard work the kids are putting in.

Totally agree with you on both points. ;)

Watching last night, I truly believed that it was either Ops or BSB for grand, and SE for all girl champion... When F5 came out I was thoroughly confused... I even thought that maybe they were getting a "personality" award.... When they were awarded all girl champs, we figured it out.

All in all, even though it was slow moving and a bit of a bust for teams that we really wanted to see hit, we got to see Ops hit the routine of a lifetime, and my daughter and her friends got to see all of their favorite teams in one night. That alone was worth the overpriced ticket!!

Power looked really solid at CL. And the athletes seemed to be level appropriate. As you know my daughter competed against Power as well at CL. Power took second this time but beat us in Visalia earlier in the year. But, the sticks really have got to go. Btw, congrats to Jr. Black.

if you didn't already think i was a terrible person... this posit will probably make me seem like one...

but why is the new "trend" money for charity? (both CL and the "new" triple crown system) It is a wonderful idea and donating to charity is always wonderful (I especially LOVE LOVE LOVE that MT money won goes towards supporting EYE) but is it really teaching the kids anything? In theory it's to teach them selflessness and giving, but their parents are shelling out 2/3x what their winnings are to get them there. they show up to another competition, win, and don't see the money so they aren't really connected to it. Hold a fundraiser, make the kids work for the money and tour the hospitals/organizations they're donating to or volunteer there if you want them to give to charity. I realize there are only so many hours in the day and i am NOT blaming the kids.. hopefully they have chosen ones near and dear to their heart and the kids are invested in winning it for them.

But in reality it's probably just a varsity scheme to get a tax write off. I think that's why it bothers me. and the astronomical cost of this sport already - why can't we lower costs to participate instead of handing out $20,000 to charity and let the family donate as they choose with their saved money?

i wouldnt be surprised if this is why they keep coming up with these new money winning charity competitions. but doesnt varsity already make money just by getting these teams to attend, plus off the movie ticket sales?? the prize money is great but i have a feeling these teams signed up for CL for the movie part more then anything. winning money for charity really isnt a new concept in sports in general.

but i thought for sure if you won the triple crown thing the gym won that money, i guess i never realized that was for charity as well.

Let me say one last thing about Champions League. The positive was the athletes. It may not have been every team's best day, but I saw some amazing cheerleading. It was really nice to watch some of the best teams in the country all in one session. I saw some really, really good performances and some incredible saves. The athletes were such good sports. Most of the teams leave their competitiveness on the mat. A bunch of the medium coed teams all sat together after they competed and they were in the stands going nuts for other teams, and you couldn't tell who was from which team except for their uniforms. I have seen most of the teams in this division cheer for each other all season and I love the mutual respect that they have for each other. My kids have made some great friends this year and last year and that is priceless.
