I wouldn't move for cheerleading, but I couldn't care less if you do. I don't know how much of Smoed's roster is made up of fly-ins vs. "homegrown" athletes, but it doesn't seem like the best idea in the long term to rely on fly-ins to build teams. But Cali has lots of talent and always makes it work so I'm sure they will be fine haha

I can't understand parents being proud enough of exploiting their kids on social media that they would put it in the bio... *insert laughing crying face here*

This right here is why one particular team will be fun to watch this season. It literally has about 10 kids whose parents run their IG and are prepping them to be the next generation of "cheerlebrity". That right there should be a reality show.

I just don't get why they never pull from their own teams anymore. I mean all those level 4 athletes that come out of the smoed gym I feel like maybe are looked over more, cause getting someone from somewhere else with more talent is more desirable to them. I don't know.
15 out of 20 from this past season's team were from cali. kyle, madi, lauren, jazzy, kassidy were originals from jr sm coed (worlds 1st place 2010). kk, riley, lily, malia, angie, payton, chimmy, ania, maia, and cody came from lady bullets, snipers or plastix prior to coming to smoed. i dont see how that translates into them (eddie and orby) not pulling from their own gym. their fill in flyer, lily (lvl 4 plastix), who helped them win worlds, was pretty much a lvl 1 cali allstar two-three years ago...

i think theyve proved themselves to be champions and don't owe or need to prove anything to anyone. whether 100% cali or 75% cali, in the end, theyve been 100% champions with talent.

Yes but now that most have aged off, they make it seem like they are pulling more talent outside the gym, then from within. During the course of the show they had maybe four? Kids living in a house together. How many more are doing that this season.....

i dont know much, only half, about the current roster; five returners from last years team, 3 pullled from other cali teams and two from non-cali teams.

I'm also disturbed by the comments.

Six-year-old flyer posts a video and the comments are from kids who are obviously older than 6 (like high school aged.)

"YASSSS."
"Goals."
"You're so gorgeous."

You're in high school and a first grader is "goals" and "omggggg so gorgeous." Okay.

I feel like I want to give Smoed the benefit of the doubt here with fly-ins. They're such a high-profile team that we hear about every single change they make, and it could give the impression that they have more distant recruits than they actually do. Just because the only fly-ins we hear about are going to Smoed, doesn't mean they're the only team doing it.

Phew, that was tough to say since I'm not exactly a fan of the way they run that team.

So you are either affiliated with Cali (unlike you have said in the past) or a crazy stalker. There's no other way someone would know every single person on that team's name and where they came from. I do like that picture/post thing though, it's cute!

Yes!

We have all seen those cheer highlight videos that are (for example) -

* all tumbling but no footage of this person stunting or doing jumps.
*all flying skills and like two tumbling passes.
*all flyer footage from privates where you're stunting with experienced adult males, but no kids your own age (ex: you're a junior 3 flyer but all your footage is coed flying with grown males.)
*mostly standing tumbling and like two running passes.

Of course you look amazing! You have planned and edited every aspect of what you're putting out there and you've selected what makes you look good!

Im curious to know what happens when these kids make the team based on the video they sent in but once they get to that teams practice they cant throw half the skills they did in the video consistently. Do these big name gyms move these kids down to a lower level? What happens if you fly to lets say cali and make the team but once you get there you cant keep up or throw the skills in your video so they move you down? I know these gyms have a lot of talent to pull from so do they feel bad moving a kid down that just flew across the country to cheer at your gym?

If i were to give a kid a spot on my team based on a video submission i would want them to send videos of them competing skills at competitions. not just throwing skills once for a video.

So the "my 68lb flyer got kicked off the Worlds team" mom locked down her twitter, guess she didn't get the reaction she wanted.
What? Sometimes I wish I had Twitter so I can be in the loop. Then I'm glad I don't because I don't want to be in the loop lol. I'm weird.

was this the one with the "total package" hashtag? That had no chance of ending pretty.

Just taking a Stab in the dark that her temper tantrum on twitter explains so much more about their team placement then anything. I would bet my last $1 the gym is done with dealing with total package mom and her CP was only collateral damage. Nothing to do with her size.
