Sweden just beat out usa in women's soccer quarterfinals. But the referees kinda destroyed the game. But happy for our ladies. Since its only girls who do good for Sweden so far.

I don't understand why there's no video replay for referees. Every other sport I can think of uses it. That cancelled goal was so unfair! They won anyway but that kind of mistakes shouldn't even happen.

The exact same thing happened with the US just seconds before, so it was unfair both ways. I think the US should be more upset by that because the call-back for Sweden likely wouldn't have happened if that goal had been counted like it should have been.

Same with Canada. So far, all of the medals have been won by women. I have my fingers crossed for the women's soccer team tonight. They beat Germany for the first time ever, so anything can happen.
I hope so too. Then we may play them. Or if not I. Semis maybe in finals if both get there. Three out of our four medals are won by one girl Sarah Sjöström in swimming but we still have a few medal hopes left. Sweden is a small country who usually don't do so well in summer Olympics so 4 medals is good so far.

I agree. Sure USA got a goal not counting too but still. But this is women's soccer. Like in Sweden which has one of The best women's soccer leagues at least in europe no one ever speaks about women's soccer. Its all mens all the time. And sorry about double posting.

Not the same situation though. The US goal was invalidated because of a foul. A very debatable foul. I wouldn't have called it, but I've seen milder things get red cards too. One of my friend thinks the referee was spot on about that. People never agree about fouls, but this one seems very far fetched to me. That's why they should start using video replay to help the referees do a fair job, because missed calls happen all the time in soccer. The Swedish goal was invalidated because of an offside that simply didn't happen. The Swedish player wasn't even close to offside. It's clear when you see the video and that why I think it's so unfair. The US goal is slightly more debatable even though I disagree with the referee.

I actually agreed that Lloyd's goal should've been negated. She pulled her down, it was the right call. The Sweden offsides call was tragic. That was a good goal, so as upset as I am the US lost, Sweden earned that win.

I wasn't sure that she did in fact pull her down when I saw it. It almost looked involuntary to me. If she did, then yes, it's definitely a foul.

I do like the cohesiveness of Great Britain's uniforms. A lot of them have the crest. I've seen it on rowers, gymnasts (artistic and trampoline), rugby, and I think it's on track too. I like the unity it creates, even though it's a bunch of different sports. Plus I really like the crest.

MAYA DIRADO! WOW! What an expected gold. So happy for her!

Also, ANTHONY FREAKIN ERVIN! Winner of the 50 free! This guy got his first gold at 19, and just won the same race again at 35. Second oldest swimmer in Rio. He auctioned that first medal off for $17,000 for tsunami victims. He took 10 years off swimming, became a drug addict and attempted suicide. Straightened out, got clean, came back to swimming, and wrote a book. Then tonight, he has gold in the craziest event in swimming.

AND he's another Charlotte guy! Wooo

I've been watching the Brazil vs Australia (football? soccer? who knows) game for so long now and I'm exhausted just watching. How do they keep on running? I'd be dead if I had to run around for 90 minutes +.
