I think back when I came across it, it was an open page but they probably made it a group to be more private since people posted phone numbers etc. I remember seeing some people driving from Fort Myers etc to Miami, and from north too, 2 hrs +.
I think two seasons back, there was someone who attended UCF and was super senioring on TGLC... I honestly thought the commute was insane, but he made it work and had no regrets.

So, so not true! I remembered more athletes traveling from Philly, Delaware, NY and as far away as Maryland to be on some WC teams... At this gym, they even organized a lot of carpooling and have a carpool app on their website...
A few years ago, my daughter cheered at a gym 30 miles from my house. It took anywhere from an hour to two each way with traffic. When it snowed, it was insane! I cannot believe there are lots of people who do that!
We drive 90 miles each way and we are not the farthest. Because of the time practice starts, it takes 2-3 hours to get there during the week, but an hour and a half to an hour forty five to get home. We have a carpool; there is actually more than one. There were at least 9 kids (not all on same teams) commuting from NY this past season. All I'm going to say is that the ride was/is worth it!

I remember hearing somewhere that a girl commuted from WV to NC to cheer at CEA Kernersville. 4 hours each way.

There are also a number of folks who travel from AR to TX to cheer at the main CA location.

Also I know this sounds Suzie's mom-ish, but I think there is a point at which you may need to consider moving TO the gym area.

Ex: When gas starts to add up to your rent/mortgage and no carpool options exist.

There was a family flying into a mega gym for practice.

If you're flying every week or so, it is eventually going to be cheaper to just move.

@Pebbles49 how does the carpool app work? That sounds awesome!
Tbh, I do not know how the carpool app works, but I noticed that on the WC's website, it has something where you can sign up for carpools. I imagine when you register and put your area, maybe the carpool app matches you up with other people traveling to the gym from your area... But I am not really sure about this though, just speculating...

Dedicated moms:

*drive 2 hours each way for cheer*

Me:

*gets annoyed when the tee ball tournament location is more than 20 minutes from our house*
*complains*
I feel that way about my son's soccer games. He has a game in Brooklyn Sunday morning at 10:15am. That's already halfway to WC for us :p.

I can't imagine it being worth joining a team with that kind of travel. I mean I want to imagine these kids who travel that far or fly only attend a few practices here and there in the course of a season.
I get that long time friendships can be made but i don't know.
Do teams who have long distance athletes only require semi attendance for practices?
Is there a constant fill in for those missing athletes?
