Also I know this sounds Suzie's mom-ish, but I think there is a point at which you may need to consider moving TO the gym area.

Ex: When gas starts to add up to your rent/mortgage and no carpool options exist.

There was a family flying into a mega gym for practice.

If you're flying every week or so, it is eventually going to be cheaper to just move.
If you can afford to fly every week, I would imagine you have a job with an awesome salary. Sometimes moving means a huge pay cut and/or a significant increase in living expenses.

The second part is super true. Cost of living is so different in Arkansas/Oklahoma that you could have a job that pays enough for your kid to fly/drive to Dallas every week for CA in those states, but that same wage couldn't afford you anywhere near the same lifestyle in Dallas.

Does anybody know if Elite Cheer Stars is becoming large allgirl or staying medium.

Elite cheer placements are ongoing this week - no decision regarding size has even been hinted at ;) I'll let you know though.

We actually drive 4 hours each way to CA Plano . And the biggest issue with moving there is my husbands Job currently requires him to be in the city we're in and also cost of living is much higher there than where we live. We're working on moving there in the future but for now this is what we have to do. I think as a mom who is not one of those "crazy cheer moms" well at least I think I'm not , I made the decision to commute when my daughter didn't have a gym near by that offered what we needed. Her goal was to get to worlds and we decided the best way to prep for that was to be at one of the best gym in the nations. My daughter is a hard worker and very dedicated to her sport if she wasn't I wouldn't be commuting but she is and I'll do anything I can to help her fulfill her dreams. (FYI she's not on a worlds team yet but our 2 seasons at CA have been highly successfully with 2 summit wins for level 4 and 5 and also a very emotionally positive environment which was extremely important to us)

In the early 2000's I drove two hours each way to practice. I never regretted it, and that gym was exactly what I needed. Gas was cheaper then obviously, but it was worth it for me. My grades were better, I learned time management, and overall had an amazing experience that I would never trade. Flying may be different, but a two hour commute doesn't bother me at all.
