All-Star Anyone Else Notice Alot Of 12 Year Old Flyers On The Floor?

i'm sorry, i just typically associate "fetus" with the "babies" on the team, aka those not senior aged. yes, maybe old enough to compete on a senior team, but no true senior age. i don't describe small for their age kids as fetuses, feti, whatever it is lol
people keep making an argument that its not fair to those that are small for their age, but never was that what i was referring to. hi, look at me. i look like i'm 12, and i'm in college. but i'm not 12, cheering on a college team (or senior team) get my point? probably not. people are still going to get angry, but i tried... le sigh.... i shall keep spitting out rainbows and butterflies.

in college cheer describing a girl as a fetus flyer is common. just not in the allstar world. that is all. i knew what you meant when you wrote it, you just have yourself planted in two different worlds now.

I still would like Worlds to be 14-18 athletes.

if worlds was only 14-18 year old athletes that would be unfair. many people (including myself, i'm only 13) would not be able to compete. and it isn't like all of us younger kids on senior teams a teeny weeny- i am probably like the second tallest flyer on the team! anyway what i am saying is many people are 12 and 13 on senior teams and if it were ever a rule that worlds was 14 to 18 it would make so many teams ineligable. . .

if you are 13.... then would you not be able to compete next year? or is it not unfair already because 11 year olds can go to worlds?

It's not like it would be a decision mid season, and suddenly make Senior Elite and Shooting Stars ineligible for worlds. If the overall Worlds Senior 5 age group is moved to 14-18 teams would adjust accordingly at tryouts. It's not like it's eliminating a group from competing at Worlds...(ie saying no one 17 or older competing) You would be eligible as you got older.

By your logic, the system is already unfair to 11 year olds.

i am saying if the rule was 14-18 at this very moment, this season, it would be unfair to people like me. now i would be able to go next year so it wouldn't be an issue but what about the 11 and 12 year olds who work hard and have the skills to be on a worlds team? i just think 14-18 is a bad idea

is it a bad idea because it affects you or is it a bad idea because it would be bad for the industry? and the way cheer works it wouldnt be up for a vote until 3 years from now anyway. so even if it did change to 14-18, youll be 16 then and would never be a problem.

More than happy to have all types and ages on this board, but some topics need a minimum age limit to participate (and possible minimum maturity level).

I am not saying it is already unfair I am saying the whole idea of making 14-18 at worlds is just bad. Some gyms have no junior 5 teams. You would be trapped on a lower level team or you would make it so your team could not go to worlds it just doesn't make sense

I already know that it would never affect me. It is just a bad idea because it is bad for the industry. I personally think it would cause problems

ok, fair enough. what problems would it cause?

say your 12, normal sized, (say like 5ft) and your on a senior level team. you would be un eligible to go to worlds with the rest of your team members

if only worlds level 5 teams had the age grid declared at the beginning of the year as 14-18 and you could only compete on senior level 5 (not open) if you were 14-18 wouldnt that fix that?

that right there, is coaches settling. im gonna use my self as a prime example. im a good 4' 11", 90lbs soaking wet. what did i do? base. wanna know why? because i sucked at flying. and you know what, i did it. and i did it well, and with flyers that were not fetuses. why? because my coach taught me proper technique. with good technique, i could have put the guys in the air...
and what do i do now? fly, on a coed team.. not because im little, not because they can throw me around like a rag doll and i can stay up there regardless, because i have wonderful body control, because i know what it's like to be both in the air and underneath.

king, do you think changing the worlds age would help colleges? i think it's smart, but will it help the whole progression onto the next thing?
and you said they are "stuck in 1999" lol, how do you think that can be fixed? especially if they are shoooting down allstars and anything to do with them left and right....

AMEN!! You are so awesome Chrissy! I have an almost identical story. I also based when I was 90lbs...as a sophomore in HS and I based a girl definitely 2x my size and solid muscle. I thought a lot about this thread today...The flyer I based was actually a base on her all star Sr coed 5 team at the time, but she 100% flew on high school. I based her in elite level stunts..but let me tell you-the girl had talent and she held her weight! Although she was not ittybitty, she was point flyer and just a beast at everything! haha Anyways, the next year my flyer graduated and a new itty bitty widdle freshman came on to the team we tried her in the air and she was flailing all over the place and felt like a cow and at that point I knew it wasn't me..long story short-she ended up basing me the next two years and is now a beast main base-but people look at her like how are you not in the air?! Size is not everything people!! I think that is a newly discovered pet peeve of mine..just because of your size doesn't mean you are fit for a specific position (to an extent). I am proudly a base, backspot, flyer..and I love it! I am so glad over the years I allowed myself to be versatile and I have been able to fill in countless number of times because of it.

Your not understanding what I am saying. I am 13 now. By the time anything happened it would not personally affect me. I am saying some cheerleaders are younger and work very hard. They deserve to go to worlds too.
