I think the rule has multiple purposes.

1. Kids cant hop gyms mid season - which should eliminate recruiting
2. Kids cant leave a gym where they are financially obligated...
3. Kids can start learning valueable life lessons about commitment and responsability

I think this is a great one. Even as coaches, I know there are some that are tempted to gym hop mid-season, which kills the morale for teams. Both coaches and kids should make the committment and it's unfair to those who don't.

I totally agree with this, if its not detrimental to the health and safety of your child, I think you should stick it out the season. But I'm still a little confused ab0ut the rule - are you all saying that if you commit to gym A and decide to leave and go to gym B and your team gets a worlds bid, gym A can decide not to release you even though they know you are now with gym B and it isn't a factor until the worlds issue comes up?

For this season it only effects athletes going to Worlds. Yes, if you competed with Gym A and leave to Gym B. You are not eligible to compete at Worlds unless Gym A releases you. Next season I've heard they are talking about making it a rule for all levels.

i still think the waiver is dumb. athletes are paying to be a part of a program, they are not gym property. if an athlete wants to leave on their own merit, they should not have to rely on the permission of someone that they clearly do not want to cheer for. i suggest that they make deadlines for going to a new gym...

Why no mention for Sr Open 5 Black ICE?? It looks like ICE's Sr. Open 5 Black ICE got Grand Champs and the highest two day total at the competition. Does anyone have a video?

Black ICE - 9.341
All Star Legend - 9.339
Mich. Xtreme - 9.323
Inspire - 9.307
Crimson Heat - 9.302

This is just me Making a funny of such a serious subject and especially one that i've experienced first hand.

But I'm sorry for putting this rule into affect because I use to do multiple teams in a season lol but that was two years ago and I'm an oldy (25). Oops

I will say that this event has had this "rumor" about it for several years. Not saying it is necessarily true every year, but I HAVE heard that the EP DOES get involved in the judging and scoresheets.

I know a ton of teams that have had many issues at GLCC competitions and I do know that the EP gets involved with the final scoring (after the routine has already been judged). I for sure dont agree with scores being changed!

That might happen but no one really knows until you start judging and someone tells you to change scores to make sure placing is right. But I will say I don't agree with certain scores for teams. But I'm not going to get into that topic..

Sure, parents are paying for their child to be a part of a program, but so are the parents of the other 19 or 35 kids on the team who will be left behind when one kid decides they want to leave. Your decision doesn't only effect you in this sport. You're potentially screwing over and costing a bunch of other families money because you can't honor your commitment.

My gym has tryouts in the beginning of May. Our first competition is generally in mid-November. Thats almost 7 months (longer if you are down South or East Coast) PRIOR to the competition season you will be with these coaches and teams. If you cant figure out in 7 months or longer that you arent on the right team, hate the coaches, hate the team, whatever it may be - Tough $h!t.

Why should I have to worry about a cross town rival recuiting my kids and promising things they cant follow through on? Kids these days have it SO incredibly easy. I feel parenting has gone out the window. Actions have consequences people. This isnt a free for all. If you leave a gym - there is now a consequence. If you cant decide in 7 months your unhappy - then you truely owe it to your team to go 4 more months with them and suck it up. Unless its an immeidate threat to health or safety, the rule should stand!

Im sorry for those against the rule - but I passionatley beleive in this rule. There are so many Allstar kids that go around this industry thinking that their poo dont stink. They can burn any bridge with any gym, and not have to give commitments all because they are talented and well known. Well - Thats done and over with now. Also, my area CONSTANTLY has to deal with gym owners recruiting. My favorite is in May when all our area Allstar gyms have tryouts. If a kid comes to your tryouts - Its automatically that you recruited them. I also had to deal with a concerned mom who hopped from Gym A to my gym mid season (They left due to saftey concerns). Gym A told these parents that if they left their gym - the USASF would disqualify my gym from competitions for having someone who left a gym mid season... CRAZY!
