so why are there no line judges on the floor at every corner?
I watched a team that I can't remember the name of right now and the guy walked off of the floor and went back on at the back of the floor. Also, another major team in small senior had two girls step out of bounds after their tumbling, and a 0.something deduction does not account for two out of bounds.

You only need them in opposite corners, and as @ztaprincess just stated, deductions were only taken if you touched the green. Stepping on the white line or red border did not result in a deduction.

He/She may have been for all I know. I was in the warmup room the entire time.
well obviously you guys need some more organization with where you place your "officials" next year!

I'm not a USASF employee, just a contractor for the weekend just like the scoring judges. In order for something to change I suggest letting the USASF know.

The rules state you need to stay on the performing surface. The performing surface includes the cushion around the floor. It always bothers me when people call out of bounds.

BUT there were plenty of people that touched the green.

figures the "contractors/judges/whatever you call it" would not care to change anything to better the sport, as long as you guys get your paycheck, youre happy.

I run Spirit Post and have made as many public complaints as anyone on this board. Being a contractor at events like Worlds gives me direct access to the people that can make changes happen.

For anyone to say, imply, or think the judges at an event like Worlds don't care about the sport is absolutely absurd. As a judge you know that no matter what the outcome you are going to get bitched at for it. "The judges got it wrong", "the judges are blind", "the judges are idiots", "what the hell were they watching", "were they watching at all", "how did they miss that", "do they know the rules" etc, etc. All for taking a day or 2 off from our real jobs to make the Worlds experience the best that we can for YOU.

Worlds for us means at least 14 hours days with 90 minutes of breaks if we're lucky. For those of us in the warmup room it means getting cussed at by coaches because we let them know THEY have something illegal in THEIR routine and trying to fix it before it's performed on the main floor and point are taken. Getting looks and rolled eyes from teenager after teenager because they think they are the special one that can be in the warmup room without their uniform on, tumble on the mat before their time starts, or do their stunt one more time after their time has ended.

For those on the judges stand it means meticulously watch routine after routine with barely enough time to eat or drink or use the restroom if you dare take a drink. Having fans and parent walk by the judges stand to yell or throw things at you because their team that has won every rinky dink competition they've attended got a score they thought was too low or finished someplace other than first.

We could easily skip the weekend and spend time with our families or girlfriends, or not taking time of work, or sleeping in our own beds, or any number of things. But instead we take the trip to Orlando because we know we are good at what we do and would rather do our part to make sure the event is the best it can be, which will make the sport better.

Well Said Andre!! I couldn't agree any more....Judging isn't easy, but I've dealt with judges for a long time now running competitions. I can tell you that 99% of them love the sport, and wouldn't be judging if they didn't love it. I think more of the frustrations that people have may be with the actual Scoring system or score sheet. When people see train wrecks, 3 or 4 dropped stunts, busted tumbling still medaling in front of teams that are very good and hit, that's gonna cause frustration. I do not blame the judges at all. 99% I blame the scoring systems or score sheets. People need to realize the difference and realize that judges at Worlds are the best of the best, judging a brand new Score Sheet for the first time of the year!!

i really feel for ya.....but how is each team guaranteed to be judged fairly and legitimately under these conditions.....especially in those divisions with over 30 teams. yes, you are human. yes you do a great job. but maybe a competition like the world championships should be open to only the very top teams in each division. that is the only way to have judges with fresh, excited, careful eyes.

If I could shimmy this to infinity I would!
