All-Star Jamfest Not Giving Worlds Bids?

I think a team's season should be what GETS them to worlds, but not necessarily what WINS worlds. I like the way our current worlds is set up with a prelims/finals situation.

So the way this all sounds to me is taking steps back to the good ole days. You used to have to qualify for NCA/UCA nationals by winning or placing in Regional or State competitions. So what people are saying that they want is to have to qualify for Nationals then Qualify for Worlds? I am 100% in favor, however, I think those teams that don't qualify will be your ultimate problem. I see the positives, I am 100% in favor, but what about those teams that don't qualify for Nationals? The don't get to go? Really, could you see NCA, UCA or Jamfest telling them no? How about those teams that do qualify for Nationals and don't qualify for "World's", I truly think THOSE are gonna be the teams that cause a stink. Agian, I'm all in favor, however the "cheer world" has turned into "everyone's a winner" and doesn't want anyone to lose, THEREFORE I see it being a VERY hard road to have "One Winner".

I think it should be both gets and helps them win, and the process of competing, learning the scoresheets, the competitors, refining the routines should show you what will win at the World Championships. The actual final competition is fine, I just think the season should define who shows up, not the big net of paid and at large bids, but those who qualify with their performances during the preliminary competitions. Different courses for different horses though.

Like a Beauty Pagent, if everyone is a winner more will show up with the entry money, buy the ads in the program and try to win all the different specialty awards. And the competition promoter makes more money. Not even the same I know, but it smells enough like it to make it "less a sport".

I'm firmly convinced that for the vast number of people the thing that influences their behavior in the most consistant and important manner other than family relationships is money. Of course they all are influenced by money. If Jam Brands did something bold like that it would be for money. I just like a set of rules and judging defined from the first competition, the same for everyone whether they have political influence or not, with a season of competition to adjust to the judging, scoresheet and the competitors, and a champion crowned by that process with the final product being what wins or loses based on real experience. It is not that way now.

I share those goals. I don't think that profit isn't necessarily the main reason that many of those don't currently happen. The way the USASF is set up, things simply don't happen as quickly as they would in a private business. Bureaucracies are often painfully slow.

I'm sure you are correct. And I have no idea what they will do, but just speculating on a bit of information.

Travel is significantly more expensive for the US to Europe and back than Europe to the US and back. I believe our ticket prices 'usually' are doubled.
yeh its a bummer about the travel costs, america is a holiday destination for brits so you can get great deals. But as i said alot of companies would pay all travel expenses in return for your knowledge :) so anybody wanting to come over ask and I'm sure myself or the other brits/europeans on the board can put you in touch with the right people!

Yes, but it is next season in question. Not this one. If its on their Facebook than they have read this, so it will be more telling if they say they are giving out bids next season.

Feel free to link. I had heard about America's Best.

To speculate (cause what fun is all this if we don't speculate) if Jamfest Super Nationals only loses a few teams because of not offering Worlds Bids (and really Worlds bids only affects a small percentage of teams) then there is no reason to offer them, and hence no reason to be in the USASF? I believe they already have a top notch registration system and probably the insurance as well.
Just wondering, but what happened with America's Best? I haven't heard anything

Just another way in which the cheer world contradicts the values I try to teach my team. There are more than enough to count, but I am particularly at odds with the idea that "everyone is a winner" because it's not how the "real world" works. Our job as coaches, industry folks, parents, etc is to recognize and further the athleticism in the sport, but I think there's a bigger job here too. As a coach, I measure my successes and failures based on the development of my teams- athletically and as people. I expect that my kids will leave the gym stronger mentally, more confident, and better leaders than they came in. The premise that "everyone is a winner" is false and doesn't fit with the life lessons we're trying to teach. I try to instill in them that working hard is a step in the right direction, but it's not a guarantee of a win. You win some and you lose some, and that's just how it goes. Anywho, I am off on a tangent.

I may be in the minority but I prefer Jam Brands to Varsity for a number of reasons. Particularly, I feel that varsity and the USASF haven't fully committed themselves to the advancement of our industry. Jam Brands seems to be more willing to change our industry and adopt new ideas. Further, I feel like often varsity doesn't adequately address the needs of all-star- it's been to hesitant to move forward and away (at least in all-star) from the school cheer way of though. It's like the old saying, "If it's not broke don't fix it". But it IS broken so we SHOULD at least attempt something better, and I am all in favor of moving forward with the BEST route whether it be JAM Brands, Varsity, or whatevs.
