Is this a done deal already or a propasal that they came up with at Doral to be presented ? As I said before , world's is a huge expense in itself and now adding a day as they did this year for the at larges and the international teams proves to be greatly expensive on top of the missed school whether it be high school or college

Here's my thing. I am tired of feeling like I am being "punished" for wanting to go to worlds! It is completely ridiculous how the usasf chooses to deal with these issues. Yes, Monday is a deal breaker for most college students, we have finals. And I am sure they are well aware of this. They are trying to reduce spectators, well congratulations, you did. I will not be attending worlds this upcoming year as I have the past four years now. I understand overcrowding is an issue, but trying to make it out like it's the spectators fault is ridiculous. You can call me dramatic, but I would much rather sit at home and clearly see the teams on my computer then sit outside in 95 degree weather on a baseball field and watch a big screen, sorry I'm not spending 500 dollars to watch one division and then go sit outside.

We will all just have to adjust.. its only 1 week a year people... calm down... kids miss proms and tests for worlds every year... sometimes you have to make sacrifices doing a sport you or your child love

I'm sorry, but academics will ways come first in my future child's life. It's not "just a test", they are a huge part of the American education system.

Yeah it is already, in my opinion, a huge issue that so many athletes either put their academics on hold a year for cheer or choose certain schools specifically for cheer. School should ALWAYS come first because for 95% of these athletes cheerleading isn't going to pay the bills when they enter the real world.

I have always thought switching the season would be a great idea.

You would compete during the summer virtually missing no school, actually go to vacation hot spots WHILE THEY ARE IN SEASON!

I've always said their are too many divisions in cheerleading and their are too many bids being handed out. I'm hopeing with this new "summit" thing those teams in small senior or small coed who shouldn't be in a worlds division go restricted 5... they will get to attend a worlds like event at Disney and it stops this 50+ team but really only 15-20 who deserve to be there

I totally agree with you about the 50+ teams with only 20 that really belong there. However, I can tell you right now, I'm sooooo not drinking the "Summit" tea.

Yep. And that room I got in Myrtle Beach last season for $89 a night is >$300 night peak season ;)

You can always stay of site or book earlier to find a better deal . . . When cheer parents flock in droves like they will there just might be a discount or something of that nature

I know that open team members are only a tiny fraction of athletes, but that would be really bad for college students. They often cheer at a gym near their college, which might not be anywhere near where they grew up and spend their summers.

Plus it would be an issue for those who work on staff at camps during the summer.

I have a better idea- let's get schools/colleges/work cancelled from the Tuesday before to the Thursday after, and nothing will be missed!

Kidding obviously. I think USASF knows that the following Monday is when most athletes and their families choose to leave, so in a sense it would decrease the number of people in the venue on that day. But, that won't help with the crowds on Saturday or Sunday!
