Why though? Why would you care if your child got the opportunity to perform for such a huge thing despite your political views.. I mean believe it or not your "child" will have their own views wether you like it or not. They may be the same or they may be different.
I do not support the President. I do not believe that he is taking our country in the right direction, and I certainly would not give him the time of day, or my future childrens time to allow anyone to believe I support his agenda. Should my future children, when over 18, want to support someone I don't, go for it. Until then....no.

Just as if my child wanted to attend a KKK convention to perform before they were 18. I would stop them.

I agree with you to some extent. I don't support Obama at all either, I don't believe he is doing anything for our country whatsoever but that's for another discussion another day.. That being said, I wouldn't compare something so inhumane and awful as the KKK to a political convention. If my child was 35 and wanted to go to a KKK meeting, I wouldn't let them haha.

Lol! I do admit, using the KKK as an example, as some of us have, is way over the top! I just am so NOBAMA after these last 4 years, its pisses me off! Sorry for getting so political.

I honestly hope CEA enjoys their time there. It is an honor to perform at such a big event, its just the person they're performing for doesn't deserve it.

Nope I completley understand no need to apologize! I think Obama is driving us into the ground fast. So I can see a little bit why you wouldn't let your kid :p

It is none of our place to decide what is right for another gym/team/child. Let those coaches and parents make thier own choices and just respect it.

If Chill Pill All Stars decided to perform at a LBGT rally then follow the next weekend with a NRA convention I might think "wierd...but good for them." I definitely don't think anyone should use their political views to judge others.

There are plenty of people who think that the USASF is a political ornganization yet given the chance to go to the heavily commercialized event called "Worlds" everyone jumps at the chance.

I don't think anyone is deciding whats right for someone else, nor are we judging, just different opinions are being stated since it was posted on the board. Differences and discussion is what makes America great! The coaches and parents can do as they please. I don't think anyones input on the Fierceboard is going to make CEA change who or what they are. They are one of the best at what they do and that won't change. It's still a free country (for now). If Chill Pill All Stars want to compete at a LBGT and a NRA convention on the same day, so be it....but if its posted it on the the board, I may voice my opinion.

So is the USASF involved politically? Or do you mean cheer politics?

I think there is a difference between saying "I wouldn't want to perform at the DNC with my team" (speaking for yourself) and "It's wrong for that team to do it" (judging others)

Who are any of us to decide what is wrong or right for someone else? That is my point.

The USASF reference was a bit of sarcasm not any real accusation.

Touche. But, I do think it's wrong, if its not where your heart lies. That being said, I have no idea what CEA feels or thinks about their politics and I wish them the best.

going to be honest i sure wouldnt let my kid preform in a conservative or republican anything, i dont want my kid sucked in the "religious way".

im sure other people are opposite. so im not sure what cea is hoping to accomplish. but congrats and good luck!

What irks me is everyone seems to be making this about Obama being the one getting the preformance. Its the DNC people. People attend who aren't in politics or democrats. It is a preformance that would most likley be happening if it was the same current Prez at the RNC. This man is the leader of our country. He has man has duties and oppertunites to give the people of our nation until further notice. That's a crazy oppertunity that some people never get, a historic moment. I wouldn't care who it was for. We should be glad he is even inviting CEA, if they were snubbed this would be a much uglier disscussion.

I don't think that's really accurate.

This would probably be perceived differently of it was an invitation to perform at the White House, much like national champion teams that get to go meet the President.

The convention is 100% political however. It's so political even some Democrats are electing to stay away this year.

I wish them well.

My point wasnt to "compare" the two events but rather to say that by attending such an event you are supporting them! The organizers are "using" them to say.. see even the "best" athletes are here for us! and CEA management is "using" them to say see we are important! The kids are pawns. BTW the event is multiple days and the Prez is there for about an hour out of that. I doubt they are performing for the prez.
Sorry if I used to much of an extreme an organization in my analogy

I was referring to journalist and certain orginizations that send people to cover it. I do know it is political. Mist stating some will be their who aren't politicians. For example journalists who went to the Royal Wedding who aren't British.
