Care to elaborate a bit more about why? I know I get emails all the time for numerous different studies they're conducting (I signed up a long time ago in case I fit the specific profile of someone they need in their study atm and they're have been so many different studies conducted since I joined I can't even count them on both hands). And same for locks of love-why? My mother died from cancer and she was very fond of that organization and donated all of her hair that she had cut before she lost it all (she had never cut it in her entire adult life-ever since I was born, until then).

Locks of Love I dont donate to because they charge recipients for their wigs, Theyre still an okay charity, but when I cut of 10+ inches of my hair I thought the person getting a wig from my donation should get the wig DONATED to them... For free.
For donating hair I recommend Pantene Beautiful Lengths. Since Pantene already has a lot of money they can take the loss themselves and provide the wigs for free.

I have TONS of problems with Susan G Komen. The first one is that they spend more of their money raised from donations and walks on non-charitable projects.
Most of their money goes to lawsuits (They sue people using the color pink in relation to breast cancer awareness and they sue people over use of the word "Cure").
Again, if Im donating money, I want it going to research, not to lining SGK's pocket.

Then theres the whole Planned Parenthood debacle. I have a friend that works at planned parenthood as a volunteer, planned parenthood is a HUGE resource for women, pregnant or not. And SGK pulling their funding was ridiculous. Because of our travesty of a medical system PP is many womens only health care. Its how they get birth control, pap smears, doctors check-ups, well-women check-ups, and breast cancer screenings. SGK is a CHARITY that became POLITICAL. That is a huge problem. Huge.

For cancer research I suggest the American Cancer Society, they are the society that the NFL's Pink campaign now goes to because they realized SGK was lining the pockets of their executives.

For any organization your gonna donate to do research! Your money cant make a difference if it buys a jet!
Organizations like TOMS, Invisible Children, Project (RED), and many others are terrible and the money never sees the people it is supposed to.

If the companies dont have transparency then something shady is going down.

TL : DR - Susan G Komen, TOMS, Project (RED), Invisible Children, and Locks of Love don't deserve your donations, find a better outlet for your charitable desires! I commend you wanting to help change the world, but do so responsibly.

You know...I completely forgot about the planned parenthood thing!! I can't believe I did bc I remember being pretty upset when it happened. Thank you very much for replying bc education and information is crucial for these types of issues! I didn't know that the American Cancer Society is the one responsible for the NFL's pink campaign!! That's awesome! Do you know of the top of your head if they're also responsible for it at the college level as well? I haven't donated money to either organization, I just know my mom donated her hair back in the day (but she's been deceased for 6 years and lived w/cancer for 10 years prior, so she'd lose all her hair again just as it had started to grow back bc of chemo) to locks of love. I'm only on the sign up sheet for the SGK foundation and they send me emails to see if I fit the criteria of a new study. So far I haven't.

But thank you again for your information! Good to know that someone does it (wigs) for free and will keep that in mind for the future. :)

No prob:) I had a friend with alopecia (sp?) who got a wig from Pantene because she couldn't afford Lockes of Love, thats the only reason I know about it! lol

I dont know if ACS is the one that does the college Pink campaign, I tried to google it, but all that came up was some victoria's secret tailgating crap
