Me and my friend were just talking about how crazy a cheerleaders schedule would be to travel that far to get to the gym? Does anybody do that? If you do, do you stay with people and are you home schooled?

Our worlds teams in IL have a few out of towners.

One athlete flies in from Michigan, another from 3+ hrs if driving each practice and we have a boy who travels from Indy to IL which is about 3 1/2 hours. Dedicated kids!

We're in Maine, but have a few who come from NH. Farthest away is only an hour or so away, however. Nothing crazy going on here! But we are also a small gym...

I used to compete for a squad in WV and I'm from PA, but it was only a 45 minute drive. hahaha

A friend of mine who now cheers at my small gym flew back and forth from NC to NJ to be on NJSE X5. Theapia is our choreographer, and our owners recommended him because of his crazy tumbling skills, and he was on X5 for worlds (and maybe a few comps leading up to worlds). If you don't know the distance...it's about a 11 hour drive lol.

My cp is too young for such a commitment at this point but if we were to go to a worlds gym, we'd have to go to IL. Both gyms I'd consider are about an hour and a half away. Have noooo desire to do that right now!

Well if my daughter could make CA youth 5 (or junior5 - we wouldn't be picky) :) next year then I would commute from San Antonio to Dallas. I would just hope one day of practice was on the weekend and only one day through the week. I wouldn't feel bad signing my kid out of school early and her getting home after midnight if it wasn't multiple times a week. Lol

I think she will definitely have level 5 skills before this current season ends. So it's possible...

I'm so crazy I know!!

ETA: my house to CA is 270 miles -4hrs 30mins

My house to Woodlands Elite is 208 miles -3hrs 16mins.. There J5 was great in the past maybe that's more of a likely option!!!

Why oh why do I live in San Antonio?

Step 1 has had athletes commute from Indiana and Kentucky over the years. This year we have a family commute from Indiana. They are at every practice. If there's a practice Saturday AND Sunday or a competition, they stay overnight.
