First of all, I don't ever want to hear about Illinois being the most drama filled state ever again ;)

Second, how much does this really matter? Georgia high school's cheer season is over and John's Creek didn't even win state. Why is this investigation happening now?

Third, everyone wants cheer to be a sport. So here we go! True sport scandal.

I've thought about this more and more and here is the thing-whether you like Jamie or not, this is his job. This is what pays the bills for him, and something that he has dedicated his life to. To have someone come in and take that simply because they have tons and tons of money would leave me a little salty too...
Recruiting happens in every sport, but since we are not a sport, it's a big free for all. If this is how it's going to be and this is the new standard, where is it going to stop? Your dreams of being a gym owner will not be possible if someone else can come in and offer free houses, cars, tuition, scholarships, etc and take everything from you (unless of course you are also in the position to offer these things to them too-obviously, I'm not :()

If Jamie P. wants to act like an immature adult, let him. Did anyone else check out GA's routine in the 2013 vids thread? Obviously his attention isn't focused on his teams. If I was angry about my athletes leaving my gym, I would have a kick a** routine. I would let my routine speak for itself. I would get over it and focus on my own gym. I'm guessing it's going to be a repeat for them at worlds this year.
someone is sassy! :cookie:

Can they send a video tryout even though they didn't attend the year before? My friend moved from HI to SC and sent a skills video to the coach in order to be on the team as soon as she moved. Even if they couldn't try out in person for whatever reason they could have done that :/ maybe, possibly.

I see and understand your point but IMO this is an attack on the kids and the H.S. more then the gym that "took" all his kids. So what he couldn't get at the gym so he's going after the kids. (Assuming it was him that went to press)

Besides, if I remember correctly from the tryout season GA ended up with more teams this year then last. He also put it out there that he was giving out scholarships this year. Like someone else put in here earlier, recruiting is bad for everyone else to do but not him?

Reading this thread I can't help but think how rumor and speculation becomes fact so quickly on here.

Here is a fact for you - Johns Creek won 1st in 09, 6th in 10 and 2nd in 11 before either of these two Athletes moved into the area. So they've been a powerhouse since they opened, winning state their first year.

As for the rest of it - I'll wait to see the final report to pass judgement since the "reporter" didn't

Maybe the new slogan should be......Fierceboard.....The Fast and The Furious!! LOL

I'm just stating that those are the rules in Georgia. Put forth by the Georgia High School Association. Not me. I don't know about any other state. And yes, if you come after cheer tryouts, then you don't cheer that year.

Do you have a link to this rule? I'm not questioning the acuracy, I just know of two Georgia schools that have allowed new students to tryout for cheer after the April tryout.

Is this seriously what our industry is coming to? Buying athletes for the "win at all costs" mentality? Give me a break. It's CHEERLEADING. Have fun, find a gym you like, and get over yourself. I hate to break it to some of these kids, but there's a life outside of cheer, and when you are an adult, nobody cares if you won worlds/state/were a cheerlebrity (shocking I know-I'm sorry to be the one to have to tell everyone this!). This is just so beyond insane to me I can't even stand it.

I had the Same exact thoughts. It's just cheerleading. Seriously not sure what people are thinking about these days.

Didn't he say he was offering scholarships to boys?? I hope I'm not remembering incorrectly. He wasn't the only program advertising that either. And it's been pretty common knowledge that a lot of gyms do it. Especially if you consider boys pay no tuition to be a form of scholarship.

Was his scholarship just a tuition waive or was he purchasing tangible items for the athletes and the families involved? I think he sees a difference because he is waiving tuition. According to some on here the owner of the other gym is purchasing tangible items.

I agree, it is hard to build a business if the guy across the tracks is not playing the same game. What is so disappointing is, IF this is about Allstar bitterness, someone has put two minors in the news that shouldn't have been there in the first place. And then, the expense of this retaliation has been put on a school district and taxpayers. We all know these investigations cost money and the ones to lose out are the students and teachers.
