It's a problem when someone says they "always" have injuries. With proper training conditioning and coaching shouldn't a team be able to go injury free?
Shoot. Half of our athletes injuries didn't happen at the gym in the first place. Broken arm falling into a door at home, broken collar bone in a soccer game, broken shoulder from the monkey bars at school, knee drama falling down the stairs at school, car wreck etc etc.

I've only ever injured myself once in my life while actually playing the intended sport, and it was while doing a back handspring on a thick crash mat. The mat was concave and my hand got caught with my middle finger extended yet curved to the side and the rest of my fingers caught in a fist. Yeah, that was fun.

All my other injuries happened as a result of my own body (bursitis) or while doing a different activity (sprained ankle skiing).

We had two injuries just this past week. Two standing tucks landed a little funny and now we have a possible torn Achilles and possible meniscus tear. No results yet but those kids can do standing tucks in their sleep. It was just weird, bad luck. It's cheer related so it counts but I sure wish we had alternates!
ETA: I once had an athlete that could perform beautiful double fulls break his finger on a bhs. It happens. Just bad luck.

I'm fully aware injuries happen. Just saying if they happen every season from things in the gym then that's a problem.

Oh Rich...I feel sorry for you bc I can't think of another single person w/so much hate and obsession for another gym

I assume you're using a proxy? I assume your IT experience w/your job at Amex comes in handy in that respect huh? Plus I can't imagine you'd be allowed back after a perma ban

i wouldn't exactly call it a proxy. CSP also has an account again, under a new username, and both were banned. just saying.

i'm not getting involved in whatever drama it is the two of you have here... but before you accuse someone of something, just thought i'd point that out. unless CSP is using a proxy, too.

carry on.

She was banned? I leave for couple of weekends and half the board gets banned.

Oh I apologize...so you're saying he's not using a proxy, just an AE? So he was allowed back on after being banned, not using the site via proxy? Gotcha..Thanks for the clarification :)

guys you guys have to know, anything can happen in the cheer world..... injures could be small but some can be fatal. its good to have a back up or to just to be safe just like what happen to aces. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN :fro:

Oh and njallday - last I checked, Rich was the one slinging accusations, just sayin

I think "accusing" someone of using a proxy isn't really quite the same thing- I assumed he was, I didn't post repulsive and unfounded allegations of him the way he did. But please continue, as you were saying..... you're not trying to get involved in the drama?

Goodness, it is the silly season for sure. Kids miss for a variety of reasons. Family illness, acute illness with one or multiple athletes (ever been to NCA with 1/2 a team with the flu? I was in 2006), school, travel, and yes injury. In a team of 36 over a year it is guaranteed you will have kids out at some point, and really almost every competition is seems. Does not have to be an acute injury and does not have to be cheer related. On these high profile teams to not have someone prepared to step in when someone is out is not doing your job. Now, for instance, SE has 37 athletes going to Vegas with probably 100 family members or much more. I suspect each family is spending a minimum of 2k but probably more since flights are at least $300. Now with entry fees and others expenses this one team is spending over 100k on the trip. Big investment of time and money. Since we want them to perform well, and cannot predict a severe ankle sprain or acute influenza (have seen 20 confirmed cases this week, so it is hitting early) or a sick family member, or whatever, it pays to be prepared. We want them to have their best shot at being successful. Now, maybe move on to something more important, like the next Honey Boo Boo pageant result.
