A typical practice we warm up and go full out 3 times. Then we work sections. But WHEN we do any tumbling, whether it be in a full out or in a section, they have to throw their actual pass. Never a layout or tuck instead of a full, etc. Heck, if our athletes even try to throw a lesser pass and they are caught by a coach, they are most likely going to be doing line drills. Obviously there are exceptions to that, like if someone is not feeling well or is slightly injured, etc.

I also want to add that or athletes throwing much harder specialty passes thru to doubles may end up throwing a tuck at the end because of execution issues within the pass and being smart they tuck instead of double so they don't hurt themselves.
But that would be only because something went wrong within the pass. Not because a coach gave them permission to.

Okay, this doesn't sound too far off of what our practices look like. I was going to say.....WOW....and especially at the high level of stunting and tumbling etc that your teams do....full out practices would be extremely intense! Except the line drills. IDK what that is. LOL Thanks for the insider info!

And to those that have asked why the team wasn't shown tumbling (Or throwing their hardest tumbling) my CP says that the Major's people were there and filming for 2 1/2 hours or so. I have to believe at some point in time they did tumble full out, and the Major's folks chose not to use that footage for some reason.

Line drills are suicides. There are 9 strips of mat on a spring floor, each connected by a strip of velcro. You start at the side of the mat, and run to the first line and do a tuck, bhs, etc) then run back to the side of the mat...run to the next line and do the same thing and back to the side again. You keep going until you've gotten all the way across the floor. That's a set of line drills. :)

Oh and it makes total sense that the Majors people wouldn't necessarily want to video EVERYTHING a team was practicing on. Gotta leave a little surprise for the mat, right?? ;)

Now that you describe it I recognize it. Just didn't know the name. LOL

You're exactly right!

CheerBaby probably knows what they are. Dan had JE do them many, many, many, many times!

About the video: I also wondered why they chose to use the warm-up footage of the girls. Guys, you could tell that it was warm ups b/c there are some kids in the gym who never throw less than a full, unless they are warming up, and even they were laying out. Plus M, you and I both know that CSP does not allow teams to "save it" during practice.
