Emails tend to be more private in nature and to my knowledge are not searchable by using Google, Yahoo or other search engines. No, I do not think an employer should have access to a personal email unless that individual uses it for business and even then I am very reluctant to consider that option. I do know, and am sure most people also do, that employers can access your work mail as long as they have a written policy informing you of their ability to do so. They are also required to keep back-up of all electronic transmissions for a set period of time, though I am not sure of that time frame.

What we post on a 'public' style forum is definitely more public than emails since it is searchable and very easy for prospective employes to so and there is no law saying they can't do a public search. I do not think they should have the right to make us to turn over passwords but there are definitely scenarios where I could see exceptions being made.

Oh I totally get the monitoring of work computers and/or emails. I agree about the reluctance of the employee required email monitoring, but I do understand the monitoring of company computers whether in office or not.

I swear I can't wait until summer is over and y'all get some real things to discuss.

Look at your tone. Rude. Condescending. Unnecessary.

I'm not sure when going to grad school made you the authority admissions and rejections but take it down a notch.

Just know you're not the only one with a post secondary education, and I'm pretty sure all of the people you're replying to have the same "primary source " knowledge about this subject as well. After all. Web 2.0 deviant behaviors for all principle and practical purpose is still new and Un chartered territory and schools, businesses and reality TV are making the rules up as to what they can or cannot "shun you" for as they go.

That's all. After all. I too have successfully been admitted into Grad School and I too have successfully obtained my masters.....however me having done so doesn't make me anymore elite or superior to the next person.

That being said Go gamecocks! And I'm going to see Beyonce tomorrow. Yay life.
