They can be nice when they work or disasters when the littlest thing goes wrong. Isn't that true @quitthedrama and @12stepCheermom
lol I'll share my favorite carpool story. My youngest CP used to be a bit of a gym rat and was never ready to leave the gym. One night my oldest walked into the house (she had the last practice of the night) and I said "where's youngest CP?". She looked at me like I was crazy and said "I thought she was here". Turns out they left her at the gym :D. Thankfully I have a good natured DH who just shook his head and walked out the door to go pick her up.

This amazes me... If I even asked my parents to drive me 30
Minutes to and from a gym when I was cheering I think they would look at me like I was insane. Cheer is expensive as it is I couldn't imagine adding the price of gas to commute to it!!!

Any coaches with long drives to WORK?

I work and coach at the same school and it's about 15-20 min from my house. The gym where I coach is about 20ish from the house and 30 on a bad day. They are both within 10 to my kid's school as well if I need to run and get him. It's not AWFUL.

My All Star kid who travels the farthest is 45 min away and I think THAT is far.

For reference, I'm the mom who is irritated when her son's away soccer game is 30 min from the house instead of 5 for a home game.

I totally love driving, if you can't tell.

Anyone driving further than 30 min for cheer should be eligible for sainthood.

My drive to the gym I coach at is about 35-45 minutes on a good day. One of my coworkers and I carpool so it's not too bad. It has taken upwards of an hour before because of how sucky the traffic can be. The longest it has ever taken was an hour and a half and that was miserable, and we were really late haha.

On rare occasions they close our practices. I understand that, but I sure wish they had black curtains to cover the windows. I am fine not watching. Since I live far from the gym I want to be able to stay there. When I leave I always end up spending money.

My daughter and a few others travel 4 hrs one way to practice (8hrs round trip)
Each trip is about $80 in gas in our economy cars.

You dont wanna do the math for a whole season lol

do they carpool or drive on their own? Wow I did the math for one month. Lord that's a lot. I just guessed how many practices per week.

Do y'all homeschool? CP's gym is under 40 miles away (highway), and some days due to traffic volume or accidents, in order to get to practice on time, I have to pull her out of school early (and truly feel SO guilty about it, such a rule follower). I also feel like my two other older children miss out on a lot of parent time during the week when I'm up at the gym--and that's with a less than an hour commute. Sigh, it's always something.

I'm really interested in, in addition to carpools, how families make the big commutes work for everyone, if you don't mind sharing.

I have a 45-50 minute commute to work every day. The gym that I coached at (taking a year off) was 25 minutes from my house and 45 minutes from work.
