We have 4 kids (3moms) that travel from houston to dallas.

1 is graduated but still age eligible
1 is 15 and is home schooled.
The other 2 which are girls are not home schooled.
They go to school and even cheer on varsity for their school.
We've just learned to manage time.
Each of us 3 moms take turns driving

We practice 3 days a week but 2 of those days are saturday & sunday so they stay the night saturday.

We travel up on saturdays and home on sundays.
Then travel back on mondays after school and back monday nights after practice.

When major national competitions come around they sometimes practice 5 days a week. We just make it work :)

Gas is a lot. Luckily its $2.67 right now. Hope it stays awhile!

Haven't been around in a while. Probably been driving to.the gym (lol). Trying not to think about the cost but we go 90 miles each way. It takes 2 1/2 hours usually to get there during the week and hopefully an 1 hour 40 minutes to get home. The tolls are approx. $34. Per week unless I need to alter my trip to accommodate for traffic and then it always costs more. No carpool
Just Lil Ole me.
So glad we do it. Best decision ever!

This is what I face taking CP to practice. And why it takes me over an hour to go 20 miles.

Holy dedication!

My daughter and a few others travel 4 hrs one way to practice (8hrs round trip)
Each trip is about $80 in gas in our economy cars.

You dont wanna do the math for a whole season lol

Are you in the "We don't live in TX but our kids cheer at CA" group of folks (i.e. the peeps who live in AR but travel to TX for CA) or is it really just THAT far from where you are in TX?

I've seriously thought about why some of the "Live in AR or OK but go to Cheer Athletics" peeps don't just fly at this point. lol.

I get why people are willing to go to the distance for them, though. Depending on where you are in Texas, it appears that your options are:

a.) Stay where you are and do a small gym.

b.) Drive long distance to get to CA/SOT/WE/etc.

Depending on the level of kid you have, the "stay where you are and do a small gym" doesn't work.

I think it's that way for a lot of other states, too.

Texas is big! Houston (which is where she is last I knew) isn't all that close to Dallas .. I'm not sure of the exact distance.

I know it cost me about $65 round trip to and from Dallas in my car but thats pushing it and i'm northeast San Antonio.

We have a girl that use to be at our gym and lives in the neighborhood of our gym and she makes the drive for panthers! We have a level 5 now but didn't when she was here and our girls are amazing but she would be one of the most talented ones on it!

We do have kids on our team that travel ftom arkansas

Sadly I'm not doing all star this year, only university. Last year it took me over an hour on the bus or 15 minutes driving to go to the gym 12km away. I moved this year and it's now 9km away, but still the same time and now requires tolls. It costs me $60 to fill my little toyota corolla and it lasts about a week!
