So you're saying our way is better since it is more specific and reduces follow up questions thereby saving the server time? ;)

**nothing brings out the Haterz and SM's better than day 1 of a bid comp. #jealousmuch**

No, our way is better because it encourages human interaction and expansion of relationship opportunities.

**Is there any benefit to being an early arrival on the naughty list?**

You get all that from specifying what type of soda you want to your waiter? Wow that's impressive :p

You have to remember that, in the South, Coke is three syllables. So we take a lot longer to say things.

That's impressive. Even with my best southern accent impersonation I could only turn coke into a two syllable word.

Naw I specify the soda

I've always heard that we southerners call all sodas "cokes" but I've never seen it occur

Nobody has to ask me what time of soda because I ask specifically for a coke or a root beer. But most of the time I drink sweet tea
Same. I've never heard anyone ask for a coke and actually mean a Sprite or Dr Pepper. They are definitely all sodas around me.

Shhhh! Don't spill everything!

If I go to a restaurant I say what kind of coke ... Automatically by just saying Dr Pepper

But if your at a friends house they will be like there is coke in the fridge ... It doesn't mean that it's actually coke. Or if your thirsty you say do you have any coke? And they will say yeah there is a root beer in there and some big red!

I think its the northerners that are weird, you call Cokes "soda" or "pop". Mostly everywhere in the South (i think) we call everything a coke (sprite, dr pepper, root beer).

Soda. Coke is a brand, you can't just call all soft drinks "coke." That doesn't make sense.

"What kind of coke do you want?"

"Coke."

Oh. Ok.

Its mostly a Texan, Mississippi, Alabama thing more than the actual "South" @ACEDAD help me out here lol its hard explaining how normal it is down here because it makes us seem stupid.

I work as a server at Texas Roadhouse and me being Texan, I ask my guests if they want a coke, and they'll say yeah I'll have a dr. pepper and thats the norm! I also like to add a little heavier southern accent, seems to fit the atmosphere, although I'm sure I already have a thick Texas accent to begin with, which doesn't bother me one bit ;)

I've never had real southern sweet tea but do enjoy the Arizona stuff I buy.

**incorrigible is a compliment, right?**
Arizona green tea is the bomb. It's the only bottled tea I'll buy from the store. I recently tried a sample of tea that's sold at Walgreens and Smith. It's a bottle of water and the tea is the cap. You twist the cap and the tea mixes with the water.

This works better in the summer but can be done whenever it's sunny out. Fill a container with water and stick some tea bags in it. Set it outside until you see the water start to turn to tea (or as dark as you want the tea). Then add a ton of sugar. And BAM. Perfect sweet tea.
my family used to brew tea like that. Sun tea is awesome. We're pretty lazy these days. We just put hot water in a pitcher and put in the tea bags.

sorry triple post.
my family are tea drinkers. We like sweetened tea but not overly sweetened. We cut down on the amount of sugar. But not one of my sisters. She and her family puts a butt load of sugar. It makes me gag. We tease her about it. We'll say is it sweet or is it (insert her name) sweet. If she makes it I water it down. Anyway if we want "real" tea we boil it and then put in sugar. It's called Indian tea in English. We pick it and dry it in the summer. It's the best tea lol at least to us native that drink it. I only drink tea at home. Sometimes restaurants don't sugar it as I like so I get coke or Pepsi with lemon.
on the whole coke/soda thing. In nm everyone usually use Coke for every brand out there. I say the actual brand though at restaurants but when I'm asked what kind of coke I want I'll say coke or Pepsi.

For me (lifelong Missourian) it totally depends on the setting. If I'm at Panera or some other get your own drink kind of restaurant, I order my food and a coke. When I get to the actual machine, I'm not very likely to choose coke. My parents have an overflow fridge in their garage that we mostly use for drinks. I'll say "mom I'm thirsty. Going to grab a coke, want something?" And come back with anything from water to lemonade to actual coke. In other settings that could be confusing, so I always try to use the brand name when ordering.
