agreed with your first part.

Regardless of people being upset with CEA, Dylan has the right to be where ever he feels wanted and happy. With the way smoed team members have trash talked every person on that team who was kicked off or decided to leave, I really don't care for how they feel. I'm talking about the members who have specially said something rude. Not the ones they don't feature as much or at all.

Over all, I'm more upset with the coaches and the way they trash talk their male athletes especially. I feel like you should keep your personal opinions to your self as a coach and not bluntly say rude things about an athletic. Especially when you know that your words are going to hurt them in the long run. There are ways to go about things without being rude.

You can't please every one. No matter how much you try and change or how much did change to fit whatever persons/teams needs. There is always that one kid that feels they are not "good enough" because of coaches like them. Just because you have a three time world champion team, doesn't give you the right to trash talk anyone. Even if they aren't as skilled. You're supposed to empower them not shut them out.

It has really gotten into the coaches head that they can't be beat. I've read the emails, there was no need to say three time world champion as much as they did in that letter. I was mostly appalled about how he trash talked his old gym. There will be a team one day, new or old that just suddenly shows how powerful they are and they will be shocked.

The amount of hate Dylan is getting because he didn't feel happy, is just absurd to me. Yes, I understand that a lot of people will take any chance to be on Smoed but Smoed is not a fit for everyone. That was obviously was the case for Dylan.

I'm just overall hurt about how unprofessionally this is being handled by the coaches.

You have a right to your opinion. And your opinion is a very popular opinion. With that said at this point you are just repeating yourself over & over again.

I am a Cali parent and will admit that I am biased...but, don't you think that he at least owed them an explanation about why he left or at least had a responsibility to let them know he would be leaving? If he could not get them to speak with him during practice (or right after) he could have at least texted them or messaged them instead of just leaving like he did. I get that he was unhappy and of course deserves to be on a compatible team, but there are right and wrong ways to do things. As a coach, I would be upset if an athletes departure was handled in this manner.

With that I will get off my soap box because I have so many other opinions about all of this, but have learned that if you don't have anything nice to say (to both sides), don't say anything at all.;)
I do agree he should have said something. But that still doesn't give the right to the coaches to threaten him (email's were showed) and trash talk him the way they are doing. That is like on the border line of harassment and bullying.

Normally, I would agree 110% with you about him giving an explanation. But in this specific situation, if the Cali coaches couldn't give Dylan the time of day to talk to them when he needed to, why should he give them the same privilege? I am all for being polite and professional but if I was in Dylan's shoes, I would probably not respond back. Especially if I saw hurtful tweets about me by team mates and coaches accusing me of ridiculous nonsense. I'd probably just sever my ties completely and move on. Sometimes it's ok to just walk away. People don't need or deserve an explanation every time.

You raise an interesting question on whether he tried to talk to the coaches. I don't know the answer to that but can offer from our experience most kids would be terrified to to tell such a strong personality person like Eddie they are unhappy and want to leave.

In reality I have no idea what leaving CA is like but that damn ATV makes me think of leaving the mafia. You just don't do it.

This is how I feel every time I come to this thread :(

Am I the only parent that thinks there were some serious red flags before he even moved (like lack of communication) that should have made the whole family second guess the move in the first place?

I thought he said there wasn't a lack of communication until after Dylan had moved. That once he moved, things went silent and Matt couldn't get in touch with Eddie/Orby/Tannaz

Maybe I missed that part but I thought I remember reading there was only one email before he even left. If incorrect I apologize. In all truth I've skimmed this thread at best.

When things in my daughter's life have not gone as planned I tend to look back and see how I could have done things differently to change the outcome. That whole you can't control others thing and all. I would have been pretty unsure of that type of move for my child based on the behavior I saw just watching 2-3 episodes of Cheerleaders let alone the apprehension about having your child be on the show at all. Although, I've never had an athlete of that caliber so I understand decisions could be different.

This is not a blame the family comment as well. Just looking back, were there red flags that should have been given more thought and changed the decision to move in the first place?

Slander is only slander when it's untrue. Posting the emails, calling the situation bullying, expressing disgust at the picture another child sent – that's all true, and hence is not defamation. He maybe went a bit far, but this is a free country and he can defend his family. What Cali did to Dylan more constitutes slander since it didn't tell his true story despite the title of that episode.

Thank you for the legal vocabulary lesson. All I said was it was tacky and rude. Let's not get excited.

Pretty sure it was before Dylan's departure and that was one of the issues. Matt couldn't get concerns addressed.

food for thought: didn't ALDC lose their membership within the dance governing body therefor not allowing them to compete at sanctioned competitions due to the way dance is portrayed on Dance Moms?

This made me laugh. I can't believe we're now comparing Smoed to Dance Moms :p Too funny.

In all honesty, I doubt USASF would ever take away a membership from a gym like Cali. Do you know how much money they'd lose? USASF can't even reprimand gyms for legitimate problems. Like sex offenders.

Sometimes I like to imagine the people working at USASF are a mix between Mr. Burns from the Simpsons and a monkey from the zoo.

I don't thinks so. I know they were banned from Starquest, which is a pretty large competition, for not portraying the competition correctly on tv.
As far as a huge governing body of dance goes, most studios do not subscribe to one. And I don't believe there is actually an official governing body for dance (someone correct me if I'm wrong) Abby is credited with Dance Masters of America and she claims on her website that she still is... In many states like PA though you don't even need a license to teach dance.

Additionally, similar to what @Eyes On The Prize said about cali and the $$$. At the end of the day Abby is still paying her membership fee so she keeps her certification. And those competitions make bank on those dance moms tv sanctioned events so I doubt her teams would ever be banned from the dance competition world.
