I'm nominating you for "Best parent" in the fierce board awards

lol.... the sad thing is my cp is only 10 and could possibly cheer for 9 more years until she ages out!!!!
I already tried to convince my husband to move a little closer but I quote "that ain't happening!!!"

45 minutes to full house and usually twice a week for practice and once for tumbling and sometimes a few other days to watch other teams :)

30 minute drive
we are at the gym 4-6 days a week...depending on what part of the season we are in.

An hour to an hour and a half depending on traffic. But I work at my gym as well, so I go 3 times a week for practice and I'm there 2 additional days for work.

I am spending $140 a week in gas then additional $20 a week in tolls and thats for just two practices a week. Throw in the comps and I don't want to talk about it.:(
Then there is the oil changes every other month and the need for new tires.

I hear ya! I don't even own a car, so I use ZipCar to get to all practices--that's about $200 a week (gas included though). And then $12 in tolls. Comps kill me. Although I'm pretty excited--our last one is right here in downtown Chicago, so I don't even have to drive to it! So I finally get to be the one that's there first, looking at my watch, asking everyone "Oh, how was your drive???" :D

my first gym was about 5 minutes 2 times a week. second gym was 1.5 to 2 hours for 3 times a week. and third gym was an hour 3 times a week.

Same here I dont know how much longer my bucket can hold up lol.

45 miles, takes me about 35 minutes & 3 times a week as of now, next year will be 5 days a week.

ZipCar in a nutshell: car sharing program. You go online and type in when you need a car. They tell you locations that have one available for the times you need and you pick one--they're located all over the city. There are all kinds of cars--sometimes I end up with a Honda Civic or a Mazda 3, sometimes I end up with a BMW or Volvo. There is a modest annual membership fee ($25/year) and then you pay hourly for the car (usually about $9/hour). Hourly fee includes car, gas!!! (there is a card in the car to pay for gas), and insurance. Once you choose your car, you just go to the place it is and use your membership card to open the car. Keys and gas card are inside--the car won't start if you haven't used your card to open it though, so they can't really get stolen as easily as people think.

For cheer I choose whatever is available the farthest out of the city so we can take a train past all the traffic, then drive the rest of the way to practice. Occasionally I wait too long to reserve and get stuck with a car downtown--those are the days it takes 3 hours to get to practice.

As far as cost? YES, I am absolutely spending what I used to on a car in VA, but I don't really do it to save money. I do it to save on hassle. Things I NEVER have to worry about:
--price of gas
--insurance
--depreciation (always new cars)
--repairs
--taxes/registration
--PARKING IN THE CITY --this is probably one of my biggest ones. Parking where I live is a nightmare. I live in the city, so there is never a space, people park "by touch" here--meaning they parallel park by running into your car until they squeeze in. Parking where I work is $30 a day! So not dealing with parking is reason enough to not own a car here. LOL

I plan to move out to the suburbs in a year or so, so I'll have to buy another car then.
