I cheer for Nitros, but I tumble with a gymnastics instuctor who works and Nitros and at our local YMCA. Am I breaking this rule? Or is it okay because he works for the Nitros?
So you take classes at the YMCA? Are they cheaper or closer or why do you go there?

Ok, this is NOT a policy at my gym but I do understand why a gym owner would say this. From reading the "e-mail" it doesn't seem to indicate that this is based on a single drop by incident. It looks as if maybe a child in their program has been injured or possibly taught incorrect technique at another gym. In that case, I would support this 100%. There are gyms in my area that I know kids of mine go to, I specifically say "don't listen to him/her, they don't know what they are talking about, but enjoy the trampolines" etc. etc. If a parent does not agree with that policy they are free to leave (unless they are on a Worlds team, bahahaha) Many gyms have policy's that I don't understand, but many are put in place for a reason. I will tell you what I DID like about the e-mail sent out by this gym, and that is they said the reason is bc they want to ENSURE that the correct progression is taught, and they are correct, you can't control what is taught OUTSIDE your gym. I actually think this is a smart policy. Don't like it, GO TO ANOTHER GYM!

if you only knew the the injuries that come out of that gym and the kids who are scared to do tumbling bc they went to that gym...yea helloooo

Well that answers my question I asked in my post. Now do they still want to try and use the "safety" excuse? If so I want to throw out a little word that starts with an H.

With that posting on their website they basically cancelled out their (ECN) entire arguement. It exposes their motivation behind the policy to the entire world as being not motivated by safety, or instruction-technique issues but fear. So then what are they really scared of? Or of who?

The local YMCA had an allstar team that I cheered on at one point that wasnt the best, but we had honestly the BEST tumbling instructor. I've been working on my full since I was in eighth grade, now I'm in eleventh. I could always land them when I worked with the YMCA coach, but when I was with other coaches I usually fell or knocked them over. I actually had a coach from Twisters say he wouldn't spot my full because he was scared of me. I just trust my coach from the YMCA more on fulls. Glenn can spot me all day long on front punch through to layout, but I can't trust him with a full, mainly because I don't want to hurt either of us in the process.

Here's a little tip. If you cheer for ECN, I wouldn't post a damn thing in this thread.....it could come back to bite you in your spankies.

Probably make you give back the ECN bow on your way out the door with their steel toed boots up kicking you in your spankies.

I've didn't know Glen could spot a full.. from what I saw he did more harm that good. He has not background in tumbling at all until he started ECN, can't try to change a kids rotation from right to left when she is in the middle of the rotation.... and yeah I saw him do that more than once. A prior post commented on the coaches, I think loosing your entire level 5 coaching staff may be part of the reason kids are tumbling elsewhere and leaving the program. Having a retired cheerleader who has been off the mat a year or two is not that same as having a trained, seasoned coach.

I know that emotions run high & personal experiences are easy to vent here.. can we try to keep this away from a "bashing" thread & keep it from getting locked. Thanks everyone for your insights into what seems to be a hot topic.

I didn't see anyone venting or bashing, maybe my post could be taken that way, not the intention. Just a fact, my own experience i am speaking of, no one else. My cp would not let anyone spot a full after a few times of trying to change the rotation. I was responding to someone talking about being spotted, and why maybe kids are tumbling elsewhere. i didn't take speaking of my personal experience as bashing anyone. ECN wasn't a good fit for us, we moved on. A lot of people are very happy there. I have no ill will against anyone or the program, just speaking from personal experience and yes, things that make me shake my head.
