Senior Practices 4 hours / week
Open Practices are 4hrs / week

We are def a small club and don't offer any tumbling or flexibility classes as we rent space from 2 different gymnastic facilities

I do the exact same thing! It's exhausting sometimes!

Means that the cost for my program is:
One-off Payment (includes comp entry for entire year, choreography, music, coaching/tuition, gym hire) - $250
Uniform Payment (full uni, shoes, makeup, bow, team jacket) - $305 for girls and $215 for boys (cheaper uniform, no bow and makeup obviously)

And that's IT for the entire year.
I'm yet to find anywhere that charges anything even close to that cheap. Can someone beat me? Haha.

If I lived in Sydney instead of Melbourne I would join your team in a heartbeat :D Your fees are SO reasonable it's great - I think it is awesome that you are making the sport so affordable, especially for poor uni students.
I calculated what I have spent on cheer since the start of the year, and almost had a heart attack lol...

My experience has been that tuition, choreo, camp fees etc are all very similar. Even uniforms! Around here the big difference is in class fees (outside of team practices). Some gums charge as much as $45 per month for tumbling/stunting classes while other gyms have unlimited classes included in their (only slightly higher) monthly tuition.

Add it ALL up and average to get a better idea. Good luck!

Aww - thanks! :) Haha yeah I try my best to keep the costs super low, and it means that I get no payment at all for all the work I put in - so it gets frustrating sometimes when I have people complain about what I charge! Esp. when in the tryout pack I actually break it down to show everyone what the costs are and where all the money is going. :banghead: But yes the "poor uni student" thing comes into it a lot.

But I know how you feel! When I was still competing and cheered all-star the amount I spent on cheer was astonomical! Esp. when I added in all th extra tumbling, group stunt classes etc that were additional costs.

Do you cheer at Deakin Uni? (just noticing your new avatar... Did it use to be an Outlaws one? Maybe you cheer at both! :) Haha)

That's so tough, I really do not think people understand how little coaches get paid :( (very underpaid in my eyes) and that they do it all for the love of the sport. :) Maybe students could do some type of fundraising to help with the costs associated with cheer? We have done a few fundraising events in the past which really helped out with costs.

I would seriously recommend that no one ever tally up the total costs like I did - I seriously could not believe how much I had spent in such a short period of time (and I didn't even include things like tumbling or stunt privates!) :S

I've moved to Deakin recently, actually due to financial reasons. I hugely miss my Outlaws family, and I hope to be back there very very soon, but the University team is approximately less than half the cost of the All Star team - so for now I just have to go with the cheaper option and it is working well for me. Maybe I will compete against one of your uni teams at Nationals!?

I'm just curious because we do things a bit different in Australia - why is the deposit cost different for male and female athletes?
Do females pay a higher deposit cost because they get extra classes like a flexibility class, or is it just because male athletes are harder to get?

Usually simply to entice male athletes to join the gym. Some go so far as to have guys cheer for free, just to get them on the teams.

Thanks for the info nikimo. I don't think we do that with teams here, but being a girl maybe I'm just totally out of the loop and all the boys are getting cheap tuition lol
That may explain why there are almost more boys than girls on my current team (at most practices lately the boys outnumber the girls now!) :p

The paper says that it includes 5 pieces for the practice outfits, uniform, bow, shoes, makeup. I am not sure if it covers a jacket or bag. I guess I will find out at the parent meeting this week. I think it sounds high also.

900 sounds outrageously high to me. I am just thinking here, but uniform at 250, shoes at 75, bow at 20, makeup at 20, warm ups at 200, practice tee and shorts at 30, spankies at 20, socks at 10 and bag at 50 is still only 675, and I am probably high on some of my guesses. I would love to know what they say it covers at your parents meeting, because I cannot fathom how they got to 900. Especially since the 5 pieces for practices are probably two pair of shorts, two tops and a practice bow. And, they don't mention warm-ups or bags. That would be a huge selling point to advertise if it was included, so I would doubt it is.

With that many boys on your team, you could be a potential beast on the floor. Male tumbling (the good ones) and basing really helps a team. Good luck!

Let's see...tuition is $90 a month for youth, junior, senior, $60 a month for tiny. If you have two or more kids, you get $30 off the tuition, so my daughter is $90, my son is $30.
Uniform is $250
comp fees are $125 for August, Sept, Oct, Nov
Shoes $75
Makeup $25
Bow $20
Choreo $50
Music $50

I think that's it.
so we are STILL CHEAPER!!! lol.....;)

Our uniforms in general tend to cost a lot less over here! I had a little discussion about this with someone on a thread a while back. I think AASCF's most expensive uniform bracket is like $160 or so? Such a difference! Haha.
Our uniforms in Australia hit about the $300 mark. Fees are dependent on Full competitive, semi competitive, or recreational. Comp fees and uniforms are not included. Practice uniform/wear is compulsory at an extra cost as well.
Does anyone know where to get some cheer shoes in Australia. having a real problem putting in orders at the mo.

300?? Just for the uniform? (or are you including shoes, bows etc. as well in that cost?) That is almost unheard of in Aus.. what team are you with?

You can't get cheer shoes in Aus, at all. You have to order them from someone and get them shipped from America. You can go through an Aus person (like AASCF) to get them for you but I think it's cheaper to order straight from the US and pay the shipping. I get mine for all my teams from cheerandpom.com, great customer service too and really good prices.

That's custom made for international traveling team. All the uniforms are through Cheer Con and no they don't inc shoes ($90) or bows ($25)
Sportech and Auscheer sell shoes as well but only kaepa. I'm going to try cheerandpom! I had trouble finding places that would ship to Aus.

My teams uniforms are custom made with speciality fabrics and are $140 through AASCF. The team I used to compete on was an "international travelling team" and ours were still around $150... I just think $300 is waaaayy too high, esp. for an Aus team, am surprised that CheerCon is charging that much. I would be interested to know what team you are on and see the uniform.. is it heaps blinged out or something?

I got Nfinity Evolutions for my teams at $75 each which includes all shipping costs (which is about 1/3 of the price!) Defs check out cheerandpom, really good prices and even cheaper if you order in bulk.
