CP's gym does 3 days of athlete evaluations - this includes returning athletes. The athletes are evaluated for their tumbling skills - athletes who want to fly have an additional tryout for flying skills. After the evals, the athletes are placed in level-appropriate groups, which is often...
That's 5 hours in a car each practice day, which I assume will be at least twice a week, for an 11 year old (or even younger)? I'm sharing this with you because I think people sometimes really don't understand how challenging a long commute can be for a kid. I'm sincerely not trying to dissuade...
It doesn't have gator in it. ;) It's disgustingly delicious - Velveeta, RoTel, ground beef. One hundred percent football food, and zero percent nutritious. The name "Gator Dip" is a Florida thing, I think.
We had smoked salmon, smoked ribs, grilled chicken, grilled Cajun shrimp, buffalo chicken, buffalo chicken dip, gator dip, veggies, fruit, cupcakes and a King cake!
Just because a gym is affiliated with a larger parent company, it doesn't mean that it has the same resources as the larger locations. As mentioned by several posters before me, as long as they aren't sharing coaches and athletes, then I think it's completely fair!
This year, our gym's tiny team is doing two curled pigtails - absolutely precious! The Mini/Youth/Junior/Senior levels 1-4 are doing half-up/half-down with curls and no poof - this is a very pretty style that looks fantastic on the floor. The Junior/Senior level 5 teams are doing high teased...
CP was kicked in the head during tumbling and although she remembers being kicked, she doesn't remember anything between getting kicked and about 5 minutes afterward. I took her to the ER that night, and she was dx'd with a concussion (her CT scan was clear). This happened on Tuesday 11/3, and...
She's six and on a Tiny team, so if she wants something to do at home, she can stretch and jump without anything "extra" needed. Anything having to do with learning tumbling over level 1 should be with a trained coach. Most importantly, as the parent, relax and just let her have fun.
For after the curling iron, I highly recommend got2be Glued Blasting Freeze Spray. I don't know how it would work before using the curling iron, though. I'll be watching this discussion for suggestions, too - thanks for asking! :)
CP is in 10th grade and is in all Honors and AP classes - we will pull her for full-day absences for out-of-town comps. We allow her to miss school because she is on AB Honor Roll every grading period and hasn't ever had any trouble making up the work she's missed. Should that ever change, she...
My precious unicorn's hair is waist-length, naturally curly, and she has a ton of it. Her hair is not easy to straighten, and believe it or not, because it's baby-fine, it's very hard to curl! Last year, we would spend 45 minutes flat-ironing her hair, then another 2-3 hours rolling her hair in...
