Is xsmall in all divisions. I was thinking it was only a worlds division. I'm confused
Yes, it is for all divisions. And technically, there is no longer "large" for levels 1-4, it is small and medium, then small can be split into small and x-small if numbers allow. Level 5 and 5R can be split into xsmall, small, medium, and large if there are enough teams.

ETA: Here's the wording copied from the age grid:

LEVELS 1-4 and 4.2: The divisions listed above for Levels 1-4 and 4.2 may be split into Small (5-22) and Medium (23-30) per the SPLIT GUIDELINES found on page 9. A further optional split of Small into XSmall (5-14) and Small (15-22) may also occur.

LEVEL 5R & Junior 5 Divisions: Youth 5R, Junior 5R, Senior 5R, Junior 5 and Junior Co-ed 5 divisions may be split into Small (5-22) and Large (23-38) per the SPLIT GUIDELINES found on page 9. A further optional split of Small into XSmall (5-14) and Small (15-22) and/or Large into Medium (23-30) and Large (31-38) may also occur.

SENIOR LEVEL 5 (All-Girl & Co-Ed) Divisions: These divisions will be offered as stand alone divisions on the age grid. Event Producers will follow the combination guidelines at events to determine the best course of action for promoting competition amongst the registered teams. Please see page 7 for the Combining Guidelines. XSmall 5 and XSmall Co-Ed 5 are new offerings for the 2017-2018 season and will be offered at the 2018 Cheerleading Worlds®. Programs with more than one team at the 2018 Cheerleading Worlds® are not eligible to compete in XS divisions. Teams that have 14 or fewer members and are from a Program with 2 or more teams at the Cheerleading Worlds® will compete in a Small Division.

It's strange that they have removed large for levels 1-4. They can't get any bigger than 30/team so why not just leave it as large? So confusing

My guess is to keep it consistent throughout all levels. With Medium Senior 5 being up to 30, having it use the same name for lower levels that have up to 30 makes sense.

Thank you very much

So, If I understand correctly... the small/xs split doesn't necessarily follow the "split guidelines found on page 9", it is "optional" (aka at EP's discretion)???

Levels 1-4 and 4.2: Teams from the same program will not compete against themselves if they have a Small and

Medium team in the same division and level. There is NOT a mandatory split for XSmall and Small teams sizes from the

same program in the same division and level.

Levels 5R and Junior Level 5: Teams from the same program will not compete against themselves if they have a Small

and Large team in the same division and level. There is NOT a mandatory split for XSmall/Small or Medium/Large teams

sizes from the same program in the same division and level.

Yes and we only have 3 crossovers total, we didn't want to fill those teams for the sake of filling them. We also go to almost all large comps and both locations will go to everything together. They don't guarantee that the teams won't compete against each other but since we go to mostly large comps xsmall and small will likely always be separated.

Also we only had 1 kid this year try out that was level 2 Senior aged.

So of all of those kids on JR2 none of them are over 10?
What do you guys consider "SR AGED"? 14-18?

They are almost all 8-12. There are way more 8&9 years old then the one kid that's not junior aged. If we lost the 8&9 year olds we probably wouldn't have very many flyers for a senior team.

Senior age would be 14-18
If she was 13 she would definitely make j2

Interesting the new grid (dated 5/17) allows for 38 on j5R. Earlier in the month it was 30. I have a screen shot of both.
