I'm experiencing this right now and it is the most gruelling pain. If it starts I won't be able to tumble for the rest of the evening. Let alone walk.
I went to physio and she said I have a pinched joint capsule and it is common in gymnasts and cheerleaders due to constant jamming of the ankles. She also said it should alleviate some pain with treatment but mine are so bad were still working on it. I've tried every remedy and nothing is really working. Ice, heat, physio, ankle conditioning etc. tried acupuncture last week and it seems to be improving but still not nearly good enough for me to tumble!! It's such an odd injury. Best of luck to your daughter. I know her pain :(

Eta: I also have fractures that went un diagnosed in my ankle and cartilage damage. I think this is telling me I'm getting too old to tumble .. *sigh*

So sorry you're going through the pain!!! I hope you can find a good solution that works for you soon!

Worst injury would be my cheek bone fracture. Was doing 180 extended lib and had my flyer slip from roughly 8 feet in the air and had knee connect to my face. Dropped me straight into a black out for the rest of our lib sequence but managed to make my way to my jump spot and continued the entire routine, even with tears rolling down my face. Ended up with a numb face for three weeks due to nerve damage (that still is healing), black eye, and minor fractures in my cheek bone.

Worst I've ever seen was a girl on my team fall out of a stunt and no one was gonna catch her really so she tried to catch herself and flung her arm out. It ended up snapping back her whole forearm and hand backwards towards her shoulder and the bone almost came out but thankfully didn't! All I remember her saying was my moms gonna kill me, I have a presentation on Thursday and that she didn't want the IV lol I remember saying yes you do want it and I don't think your presentation matters. She was in such a state of shock that she just kept repeating how mad her mom was gonna be lol. Ended up needing surgery, pins and all.

My own worst injury was probably my ankle. I was jumping off the tumble track onto the spring floor tumble strip and I didn't know the spring floor stopped at one point and nothing was underneath because the mat kept going to the end of the wall. Well I landed right where the spring floor ended and my ankle snapped sideways. I heard the crack. My coach still made me practice and I was in agony. Went to the hospital they said it was a sprain. 2 X-rays later a few months after and they still said sprain. My PT did ultrasound on me and every time it hurt like a sob so she said for sure it's fractured. Got an MRI finally after pleading and they finally said OH it was fractured and didn't heal properly. This was after worlds when I got the results and they told me to do ART physio which did squat and I was going 3x a week. Still hurts most of the time and I can't tumble or do a lot of jumping around without wearing a brace. :(

Naturally I have Plantar Fascitis in my feet, and just incredibly flat feet, so I've always had foot pain. But when I was in the sixth or seventh grade I was tumbling from th spring floor into a matted pit and I over cutted myself and messed something up in my ankles...they said that both my ankles were sprained and so I was restricted on footwear and had to wear a walking boot on my left one for about six months because it was apparently worse. Well I went back for more pain about four times and they kept telling me I just had a sprain, over and over again. After about four or five double "sprains", we finally saw an Ortho specialist and he said I had nearly torn tendons. They were stretched so severely that to this day, over five years later, I need surgery to repair the tendons because physical therapy wasn't enough. So I would def. get it checked out by an Ortho specialist, because I haven't tumbled since this injury happened due to my doctors restrictions. It sucks.

My worst cheer injury has been dislocating 4 ribs. Doesn't sound like much but I have never experienced such pain in my life.
